Another Texan joined? Who's letting these people in? Seriously though, New Braunfels is one of the prettiest areas in the entire state. I haven't visited there since floating the Guadalupe in a kayak with our local BSA Troop three or four years ago and am anxious to go back!

Hi Jeff! Welcome to our friendly forum! I like puzzles too, but spend less time on them as I'm always trying to find time for stamps. I was around New Braunfels nearly 50 years ago as a kid; my aunt and uncle from Germany who lived nearby for a few years were amazed at the local German-owner business. I remember some good authentic German-restaurants where we ate some tasty German meals like my grandmother would make.
A very nice place many years ago, I'm sure it's changed a bit. Do you go to any local stamp shows in the area?
Jim (near Atlanta, Georgia)

I wonder what became of the Waco show. Years ago I would attend but when I searched for a date recently nothing popped up.

Must have died at least 30 years ago? I do remember SOPLEX/HIPLEX in Lubbock (?) in the early-mid 1970s. I could see the Buddy Holley statue from my motel room.

I don't remember the last year I went to a show in Waco, but I imagine it was at least 15 years ago.
Buddy is my cousin. One day I'd like to go to Lubbock and see that statue and all the other sites.

I think Hutto is changing. They tried to keep the town small, but it didn't work. When I moved here a little over 2 years ago, I was at the edge of a cornfield. I totally freaked out when I heard a lot of gunshots, only to find out it was Dove hunting season. Now, there is no cornfield, only new houses...thank heavens. I prefer to live in an area with limited hunting. lol. I almost bought a house in New Braunfels, but ended up getting something nearer to family.

We moved here almost 2 years ago from 80 acres in North Texas. "Civilization" has been a struggle emotionally, but the kids and families are nearby. And I got tired of fixing everything that kept breaking. I so badly want to go out in my front yard and empty my Mossberg into the air just because I can! But I can't.

bummer. I also miss looking out my front door and seeing mountains, having lived in Boulder for almost 30 years. I don't mind Texas too much because there's a ton of things to do, but I'm not particularly fond of the heat.
