[ADMIN NOTE: This and the following post have been merged into this thread.]I am going thru some stamps and I found these different cancels. I think this type of cancel has a special name but I don't know it if there is. I did think these cancels are very nice. If you have trouble reading the top one it says Begin an Adventure of Giant Proportions - Collect Stamps.

I was midway through my 11th year when a "Believe in America Week" was organized in Paterson, New Jersey in 1958. It was a philosophy I grew up in. A way of life. One I miss today.

These past 3 days I have spent considerable time trying to sort out my Boston ADDRESS YOUR MAIL TO STREET AND NUMBER slogan cancels. I realize the following pages will be a real yawner for most. But now I have an organized starting point for further study and additions. This has enabled me to find and order several additions to this collection from eBay and Delcampe that will be a few weeks in arriving.

That is a VERY cool commercial cover, Jeff. Luckily, someone at that office in Chicago saved it intact and didn’t just clip off the stamp. And whoever was the secretary who typed the address, she (very few male secretaries in the 1930s) center oriented the three lines very neatly. It’s not that easy to do on an old manual typewriter and have such perfect results. She was dang good! That’s part of the joy of covers - they are little snapshots of history.

A recent ordinary piece of mail (with a stamp) that was not related to stamps or stamping that had a nice inkjet cancel that was not only readable but complete. Seems to me these are usually unreadable.

Great additions to my US Slogan Cancel collection keep popping up such as this Very Scarce (according to Payne) San Angelo Texas
ALL WEST TEXAS EXPOSITION SAN ANGELO OCT. 8-13, 1923
August 25 1923
Payne lists the latest recorded date at time of publishing as August 30, some 5 weeks before the opening of the exposition. Undoubtedly later dates exist, waiting to be recorded.
I won this at a small fraction of my snipe on eBay, and I am ecstatic.

On September 15 1948 a new slogan was introduced promoting forest fire prevention. The indistinct shape at the left represents a burnt tree trunk.

While the sender of this card followed the suggestion in the slogan cancel to ADDRESS YOUR MAIL TO STREET AND NUMBER, she failed to get the city/state correct:

JeffS , I am watching this item on eBay simply because of it's connection with Pusan, South Korea where I lived for 8 years. My question to you, however, is do you know anything about the slogan postmark on this cover? It looks like it is holiday related and there seems to be a partial reindeer but the text of the postmark is not complete and it was also postmarked in June of 1955 so it would be odd to still be using a holiday slogan postmark. I would love to know if you have any information. Thank you in advance.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

The "reindeer" you see, is actually Paul aboard his steed.
This indicates the slogan was in use for at least 5 years.

I received my first example of the USPS Christmas slogan, ink-jet of course, which depicts a snow globe with a snowman, which is dated on its base 2023, and adjacent text of "Happy Holidays." Uncharacteristically unclear for an ink-jet IMO.

I picked up this cutie recently. An example of my pet ADDRESS YOUR MAIL... slogan, one of 2 Universal Machine styles. The Payne handbook includes such third class mail uses as he found them. I realize such are not popular with "postal history" collectors due to being undated. To a cancellation collector who can ID the city dater/slogan die combo where appropriate, they are of interest.

Arrived this week:7TH ANNUAL CONVENTION SOUTHERN COMMERCIAL CONGRESS CHARLESTON, S.C. DEC 23-17, 1915.
On a tidy envelope of the Charleston Fire Department Dec 4 1915
Recorded by Payne as early as August 14, 1915. The Congress certainly got their money's worth of use out of this slogan.

Here's another boring ADDRESS YOUR MAIL... from NYC. Of interest to me is the use with the dater dial showing 3 stars. Machine cancel students attribute this use to "temporary" use when more machine power was needed.

Today's slogan arrival:TRI-STATE FALL FESTIVAL OCT. 21 - NOV. 4 1922 COVINGTON, KY.
I have difficulty accepting that this slogan is 102 years old (almost) as I can clearly remember when the 1920s were but 40 years earlier.

Here's my latest:
BEFORE YOU LEAVE A CAMPFIRE BE SURE IT'S OUT.
Exclusive use at Salt Lake City, 1920 - 1921, use not continuous. The Hotel Utah is an interesting websearch subject.
Some minor cover faults but a most attractive (to me) cover.
