What could have been a nice cover, ruined by "monkey markers". Anyway, it's 2020 Britain's cancelling way. I'll take the estamps and place on my album, as I don't have neither the used mini-sheet nor the 2 Machins.

This eBay seller always provides an interesting cover when mailing an order. I usually don't keep eBay seller covers, but I add his to my Stamp Dealers cover collection.

Here is a fun cover I received in the post this week mailed on 28 October (New York) and received 04 November (Leiria) franked with USA 2006 Comic Super Heroes (USA Scott n.º 4084a-t YV n.º 3841-60) I am not sure if the postage had any effect on the speedy delivery, but not bad for a Trans-Atlantic mailing,
Postmark SCF n.º : 100 Area: New York NY Type: 2-line Spray Text: NEW YORK NY 100 || 28 OCT 2020PM 12 L ID: 12 L Date: 28 OCT 2020 Notes: No cancel, postmark only
But wait, it has been postmarked a second time on the reverse,
Postmark SCF n.º : 100 Area: New York NY Type: 2-line Spray Text: NEW YORK NY 100 || 28 OCT 2020PM 10 L ID: 10 L Date: 28 OCT 2020 Notes: No cancel, postmark only
but am unable to explain why the second marking; it is not a receiving postmark as it is from the same facility, just a different machine.
Anyone fathom a guess or explanation...
Happy collecting!

I got this first-day cover in the mail earlier this seek. It is a FDC used as an advertising medium. Stamp dealers have used FDC for advertising at least since the 1920s and I collect them when they are reasonably priced. However, this is the first one I have received addressed to me. The dealer apparently bought up a bunch of the Bugs Bunny stamps canceled on a blank card, had his advertising printed on the cards and bulk mailed them to potential customers. My address on this item is from my APS membership so he must have bought its mailing list. The card came in a cellophane wrapper with a cardboard backing making the card look like a mailing label. The advertising worked as I went to the website printed on the card to see his stock. Didn't buy anything, though. Too pricey for me. The card, however, is going into my Stamp Dealers cover collection.
Anyone else get one of these?
Don StampHinger The way it arrived The card removed from its wrappings.

Great covers Joan ( cursus ); thanks for sharing.
Given my growing affinity for ink-jet postmarks and cancels, I am especially taken with the cover from the USA. The only thing that could have made it better is that direction, as part of the Machine ID, would be Trailing (T) rather than Leading (L).
A nice one though, nonetheless and perhaps Jeff ( JeffS ) was right, we need a thread for these...
Happy collecting...

The U.S. Post Office has purchased new ink jet cancelers and the cancels of late are much clearer. A needed improvement!

That is quite the haul Bob ( anglobob ), thanks for the postings and sharing your mail ;-)
As for some of the envelopes, the one from France with the hand-cancelled postmark is quite the treat. What caught my eye though, was the "flats marking" on the same cover clearly marked with the departure information from the Morgan NY Distribution Center. These machine cancels are produced by special machines designed to handle oversize mail matter and another example can be seen on the International Machine Cancel Society website here.
That Belgian cover is also a joy; who does not like penguins? For those polar philatelists among us, Belgium holds a special place as they herald in the era of the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. For further details regarding Adrien de Gerlache and his adventures aboard the Belgica or for other expeditions when “ships were made of wood and men of steel”, have a look at the American Society of Polar Philatelists website...
Happy collecting!

I received this envelope full of goodies from a friend and former colleague who continues to save clippings from his mail and comes across items he has saved from correspondence with friends and family from years ago. So what does this mean? You guessed it..another unboxing video is in the works.

The other day the below letter came in the mail from Brooklyn, New York. Everything appears normal...cancel, stamp, and the letter inside...except, we don't know anyone in Brooklyn, New York that would have sent us a little thank you card like this. The letter was addressed to my wife so I asked her about it but she wasn't expecting anything from New York as well. So, this past October 16 was one of those faux holidays, Boss's Day, and my wife and her colleagues all contributed some money toward a gift for their boss. My wife works for a small company here in Grand Rapids, Michigan, that provides live plants for company offices and she has a roster of clients each week that she visits and takes care of their plants. The stamp on this letter is Sc. no. 5447 Hexalectris spicata, serpentine die cut 10¾x11 on 2 or 3 sides from a recent booklet that was issued by the US Postal Service. We opened up the letter and found a thank you note from my wife's boss for her boss's day gift and also on the back of the envelope was a note from a woman named Lauren which reads as below: So, somehow, this envelope was never postmarked and as near as I can work out was stuck to or attached to another envelope and wound up in the mailbox of a woman named Lauren in Brooklyn, New York who was kind enough to put it in the mail again to my wife.

In today's mail, this lovely registered cover from Argentina,
In addition to the mountain range depicted from the Tierra del Fuego National Park, I am taken by the syncopated perforations of the issue. Michel n.º 3821, Syncopated Perfs - 13¾ x 13½ and apparently printed on fluorescent paper, but I have yet to pull out the black light to confirm...
Happy collecting!

Spotted: the 2019 Patrimoine de France Chamonix-Mont-Blanc reissue in Green. Quite wonderful that French stamp dealers are using boutique items for shipping, as this gives me an opportunity to compare against the original 1937 issue in blue:

Mail is slow these days; usually a registered letter can make the journey of less than 100 kilometers by the following day,
In this case, the travel time was five days: cancelled Lisboa - 10 December, arrived Leiria - 15 December.
Once soaked, the block of four commemorating the life of Hermínia Silva (1907 - 1993) with its syncopated perforations will be a nice addition to the collection...
Happy collecting!

Love the stamps Jean ( polarbear ), especially that train block; it caught my eye ;-)
Question though, if you do not mind me asking, how would you display them or incorporate these newly acquired gems into your collection if you do not soak them? I do not think that the padded envelope adds anything other than bulk, so I am curious...

Good question. I am pondering how to do that with both sides having stamps on an oversized envelope. I’m concerned the yellow dye from the envelope paper will bleed into the stamp paper if I soak them. I’d rather have that sheet intact and its original colour at the end of the day. Those train stamps too! I’m also wondering how to store that sheet if I did get it off intact? I’m quite sure it’s too big for my letter size sheet protector. Right now the envelope is sitting upright between binders on my stamping shelf. Yes, I only have one stamping shelf.

polarbearAlways nice to have stamps all over an envelope - Since they represent more of a sentimental value (not CV), I would keep the envelope as I do keep many, in a special folder, upright - souvenir !! René

The odds are that, while you would be able to soak the sheet off of the cover, it would likely experience one or more perforation separations during handling (there are already separations at the top). That risk also exists for the train block.
If you don't mind cutting the envelope to separate the sheet and block, you should be able to carefully peel the plastic bubble backing from the inside of those pieces to reduce the bulk.

I agree with Steve. i would separate both sides of the cover and peel the bubble plastic coating (it's quite easy!) and keep both blocks on paper. it should be the safest way to keep them intact.

Cover, received today from Ripoll, Catalonia (100 km North of Barcelona), altough it has the spanish PO Barcelona processing premises postmark, that concentrates all Catalonia and Andorra post operations. You can see two old ATMs with an spanish railway electric locomotive overprinted for the track between Ripoll i la Tor de Querol (Northern Catalonia, France).
