Specifically holiday related mail was skimpy around here. I suppose we should have expected this as we didn't send out Christmas card until the last minute and then only to family and not friends. What little came in is below and except for the Happy Holidays postmark, there is only one Christmas stamp among all of them. The stamps from top to bottom are as follows: 2019 Star Ribbon 5362 coil stamp, serpentine die cut 10¾ vert. with a blurry Mailer's Postmark Permit Cancel which may be 4662 or 4682 2018 US Flag Sc. 5263 booklet stamp, serpentine die cut 11¼x10¾ on 2 or 3 sides, microprinted “USPS” at right of flag fold on fifth white stripe (Banknote printing) 2019 US Flag Sc.5345 (55¢) Flag booklet stamp (Banknote printing, serpentine die cut 10¾x11¼ on 2 or 3 sides, microprinted “USPS” to right of sixth red flag stripe 2019 Holiday Wreaths Sc. 5424 Aspidistra Leaf Wreath 2019 US Flag 5342 Ashton-Potter printing, serpentine die cut 11 horiz., microprinted “USPS” at lower flag grommet

This addition to my received Christmas mail in 2020 actually came to my office. It is an attractive Christmas cover despite it's commercial nature (it is from a realtor I met at a networking event). Another cool thing about it is that it is the one and only cover I received with a 2020 Christmas stamp on it. In this case Sc. no. 5529, the Reindeer from the Holiday Delights booklet.

Some more recently received mail as follows, top to bottom: 1.A letter from an eBay seller that includes Sc. 1555, D.W. Griffith, Sc. 1576 World Peace Through Law, Sc. 1505 Rural America and Sc. 2439 Idaho Statehood Centennial 2.A beautiful and tidy little cover from renden , who sent me some Canadian classics missing from my collection. The cover has one of the prettier ship stamps I have seen, the Queen Marguerite, Sc. 1140 from the 1987 Steamships issue and a 2020 definitive that is too new for me to give you a catalog number. 3.A January Christmas letter from some friends of ours which includes Sc. 5533, the Northern Cardinal from the 2020 Winter Scenes Christmas issue.

This cover from Michael arrived today - intact - but the poor stamps got the ballpoint treatment. Such colorful stamps though!

This is the first time I have seen a “ Flip Over” tag attached to a cover. The advantage of living in a rural area, it can be easy to get decent cancellations. o know they are older issues. If any one wants the cover, please send a PM and I will send to you. David

My latest order from the APS Stamp Store arrived! Yay...
I forget what's in it. I need to clean up my desk before I dig in to this!
I recall that the podcast "Stamp Show, Here Today" poo-poohed the APS Stamp Store. I Don't know why, I think it is great. Decent prices, decent selection. Maybe they were comparing it to a real shop on the street. I've never had a problem with them since I started ordering from them 5 years ago.

As next Sunday, we're having elections to the Catalonia's Parliament I've been receiving envelopes asking for the vote for different parties. As they've gone through the mail, I usually save some of them, as part of our history:
This time, as a symbol of the current (Covid19) situation, I've also got a letter with instructions "for safe voting"

Terri ( philatelia), I am so glad that you liked the cover. I did try to make it something interesting for you, since you do such a nice job on the ones you have sent me! And I am also glad that you like the CDS hand-cancels. I had to ask for those explicitly. Most of the postal clerks look at me like I have three heads or something when I do, or ask me multiple times: "You're sure that you really want me to do this?" It's become a bit of a challenge, really. So far, I have always been able to cajole them into it. Occasionally, I will get a clerk who will try to tell me that it's against policy or not allowed or something like that. In that case, I tell them that all of their colleagues (i.e. the other clerks) have done it for me, and at least so far, that has always worked to get me the result. Nothing like a bit of peer pressure to get some action! Thanks for the nice post, Terri!

There have been others here on the Forum in years past who have also said that they didn't think much of the APS Stamp Store. Personally, I like it. It's not perfect, of course, but it is pretty well organized, and if there is ever a problem with my purchase, I can send it back for a full refund, no problem. I used to like it when they offered free shipping for orders over a certain amount, but I don't think they do that anymore.

They certainly don't offer free shipping to Canada Beryllium Guy, BUT... they certainly do not bill me the full amount they need, as I pay about ¼ of the cost!

Received in my mailbox today, this creative example of fraudulent franking. The cancel clearly shows that the letter was mailed in France. However, the two upside-down brown CEPT 1988 stamps featuring the high-speed train are Monaco issues. But the country name is obscured by a French stamp. To add insult to injury, the French stamp itself is a service stamp reserved for usage by the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, and that's not where the letter came from!

Yesterday I received an eBay lot that came from Canada and arrived pretty quickly considering the state of the postal service these days. I was fortunate in that the seller plastered the envelope with this huge format stamp from the Great Canadian Goalies series of 2015. This is Scott no. 2878 and features Martin Brodeur. The stamps all arrived in pristine condition with no scuffs or any other mark as far as I can tell. Also, on this cover are Sc. nos. 2407 and 2409, the Pale Green Assassin Bug and the Margined Leatherwing from the Beneficial Insects series.

I have a couple of former colleagues who continue to save stamps and covers for me, one who used to be my boss, now retired, and the other was someone who moved around internally in the sales department I worked in and eventually left to become head of an organization that annually, takes in membership registrations. She has always worked in some sort of management capacity for this organization and, annually, always gives me all the envelopes that arrive at registration time. Logistically it was a bit more difficult this year because of covid and because I am currently working from home but somehow she always manages to get these to me. Something that I am very thankful for as it is a great source of recent covers and recently issued stamps. I have sorted these by the types of stamps they have on them, Christmas, commemoratives and two types of recent definitives. Normally I would go through and determine the Scott nos. when I post but there are just too many and somehow, except for the definitives and a couple of others, there seems to be, a different stamp on every one of these covers. A lot 2019 and 2020 spaces will get filled (if I don't save the cover). There are also some covers I have separated to save to talk about later.
