Hello Everyone,
My name is Bob and as the subject says I'm from the Phila, PA area. I'm 69 yo and have been collecting on and off since I was a kid. I'm a long time APS member.
My collecting and interests have had on and off, and changes over the years. In July 2016 I was diagnosed with Leukemia (AML) and I get chemo once a month for a week. Needless to say this worldwide virus gives me great anxiety but I'm hanging in there with my low and compromised immune system. I also have hand tremors so please excuse any typing missteps.
My current collecting interests are--
Engraved Stamps (Czeslaw Slania etc.) Stamps from the Polar regions (TAAF etc.) Island countries A variety of topical interests.... mostly with worldwide stamps that are visually appealing. Triangle Stamps
And many more.
I look forward to following the forums and participating where I can.
I .
Stay safe everyone!

Welcome to TSF, Bob ( crickbob)! Greetings from a US expatriate living and working in the UK at the moment! Philly is a cool town. I have visited there on several occasions over the years, and have always enjoyed it. Please take good care of yourself (I am in the same boat with a chronic autoimmune disease), and don't be a stranger around here. Best Wishes, Chris (aka Beryllium Guy)

Welcome crickbob ! Hope you will enjoy your stay and we look forward to seeing some of your stamps. Happy Collecting, Londonbus1 Thank you! I just got a new Windows machine and a scanner. Need to connect scanner and figure out how to scan stamps of the same quality I see here. Any tips on successful scanning appreciated. Also have a bunch of sorting to do of stamps I’ve acquired over the past year or so. I just purchased a bunch of different VARIO pages to get organized. With my daily fatigue it’s a slow process but I’m determined to get there!

Welcome! I also live in Philly. Are you active in any of the regional stamp clubs? Thanks. I wish I could but because of health I’m home bound. Strength quite compromised. Are there many active regional clubs?

Welcome! I also live in Philly. Are you active in any of the regional stamp clubs? Thanks. I wish I could but because of health I’m home bound. Strength quite compromised. Are there many active regional clubs? There are several. I have attended the Springfield-Delco (meeting in Clifton Heights) and Merchantville (meeting in Pennsauken) clubs, though neither is active during the current pandemic. Meetings tend to have 10-30 people and include auctions and presentations.
I have seen listings for a Greater Philadelphia Stamp Club meeting in Willow Grove, and one in Chester, but I have not checked them out yet.

Thanks for that info greaden. I’m close to Willow Grove, but with my current health I doubt I’ll ever get there. I didn’t realize there was this activity in the area.

A couple of things:
Is there a “testing area” to see if a scanned stamp is going to display properly?
And as far as accessing images from remote servers, I’m wondering if these work. If not, what do most people use?
Google Drive Flickr Shutterfly
Something tells me none of these. I’d just like to use what the general consensus is. Thanks
BTW, I tried to search the forum for this info but I’m either using the wrong search terms or my chemo brain is getting in the way. 😑
