I just acquired an accumulation of France.... lots of stamps and pages in no particular order, and I found these. Not in the best of shape, but a beauty of a year stamp on the one... not sure what the rest of it means (October 5??). Just starting to pick through the pages, much of it is common, most all hinged (even mint) but who know what else lurks!!

Hi, Stan ( stainlessb ): As always, nice post of some cool classic stamps! Not quite sure about your question.... the date clearly seems to be 5th October 1855 on the first stamp. Am I missing something? You're not sure what the rest of what means?

FRANCOBOLLO POSTAL TOSCANO = Paid postage stamp of Tuscany, currency value 6 Crazie
The Italian for OCTOBER is OTTOBRE hence "OTT"
with 12 Crazie to the Lire, your 6 Crazie stamps cost half a Tuscan Lire

I wasn't sure if OTT meant October (I was guessing)
or maybe it referred to some official hotenpot or such
fun to find things I wasn't expecting- in the condition they are in, curios at best I suspect

A few worse for wear but given the CV of good margin rarities - they are fine Unlike the German States a lot of the Ital. States are very roughly printed Vaccari Cat # 1851 # 11 1851 # 13 1860 # 42

I think this stamp is missing from the posts. Like the other previous stamps, my stamp does not clearly show the characteristics of typographic printing. I'm posting it because the paper has a watermark (probably genuine) and it will soon leave my collection (I put it up for sale)
