What I collect: It's complicated....

I am known as Eggdog, but you can call me Eddie. I'm from Connecticut, which is proud to be bigger than Delaware.
Don't mind me if I sound a little sluggish. My two weeks to make my presence known here are almost up, and those two weeks have been crowded, as I know they have been for all of you.
I did stamps when I was young, which I'm not any more, though I do hope I'm still immature. I picked it up again about 10 years ago when I suddenly had a lot of time on my hands and didn't feel up to polishing off Remembrance of Things Past. Most of my hard-core philately involves southeastern Europe. I also like postmarks from towns I've never heard of (and I just found some goodies in a Nigerian mixture) and postmarks/covers from places that have been under several jurisdictions during the age of mail. Zagreb is a good example: Habsburg, the provisional periods after 1918, Jugoslavia in its various incarnations, the Nazi wartime state, and, finally, the Republic. I've found Zagreb postmarks on those strange, Goth Slovenian stamps from after WWI. I'm not sure what's up with that, but I hope I'll find out some day.
Looking forward to some interesting discussions.

I picked it up again about 10 years ago when I suddenly had a lot of time on my hands and didn't feel up to polishing off Remembrance of Things Past. Ha ha - I skipped that step too, I just went straight to eating madeleines (the import aisle at my local grocery store does actually have madeleines from France on the shelves - maybe the manager is a Proust fan). Welcome to our forum! Ryan

the import aisle at my local grocery store does actually have madeleines from France on the shelves - maybe the manager is a Proust fan) Don't ask me why, but I have to ask you if that store also carries breadsticks Karamazov. Anyway, thanks to everybody for the warm welcome. Next time the scanner is on (probably this weekend), I'll start an illustrated Goth Slovenia thread.

Welcome, I also love how stamps show the movement of borders, it is an observation on sovereignty.
