Hello all!
My name is Chris and I'm just in the beginning of my stamp-collecting journey. I literally haven't collected anything yet, but intend to start once I get my stock book and other materials. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and am interested in U.S. stamps issued after I was born (1996). My topical interests are space, trains, and holidays, but I've also found a myriad of other stamps that are of interest to me because of the artwork and/or subject matter.
I'm cooped up at home (as I imagine most of you are), so I'm looking to this as someplace to channel my extra energy into and keep myself occupied when I'm not too busy with school and work.
Looking forward to having a fun time with stamp collecting, and to meeting all of you!

Hi, Chris ( ckildegaard), and welcome to TSF! It's great to have a new collector on board. Hope you will enjoy the journey. I lived in the SF Bay Area myself for about 15 years, and it would have been during the time when you were born. I lived in San Leandro over in the East Bay and worked down in Fremont. If you don't mind my asking, where in the Bay Area do you live? Just curious.... Anyway, enjoy your time with us, and see you around the boards! Best wishes from another Chris (aka Beryllium Guy)

Welcome to our Forum!
As one who began his stamp journey collecting U.S., it is great to see another U.S. collector come on board.
I've adjusted your status so you can now post in most other areas of the Forum.
Should you have questions or encounter problems please don't hesitate to ask.
Have you decided yet whether you will focus on used or unused stamps?

How fun! Delighted to have you join us.
Are you collecting unused aka mint USA or used? It is a bit tougher to find some of the newer issues postally used.

Welcome to TSF! What you're interested in is what I mostly need. I have most US stamps up to 1997 (with the exception of those really expensive items).

Welcome ckildegaard - Chris. Cool to have a young and enthusiastic "newbie" with us Also interesting to have a member focusing on recent issues, as many of us are focusing on older stamps and often neglecting the recent issues. Looking forward to see your stuff, please do not be shy to show pics or ask questions. You've arrived at a friendly and good place - enjoy your stamp-collecting journey
