Personal Invitation to APS Town Hall
Dear Fellow APS Member,
Today we celebrate the birth of stamp collecting. On this date in 1840, the United Kingdom issued the first postage stamp, the Penny Black, to begin use on May 6, 1840. Though much has changed in the last 180 years, you are honoring a tradition that has withstood many challenging times. We find ourselves there again today.
Over the past six weeks, many of us have sheltered in place. Hopefully, in that time, you have remained connected with our community, worked on your collections, and maybe added a few items to your collection. The way we used to do things has changed, and we're changing with them.
That’s why I am inviting you to join me for an APS Town Hall on Monday, May 4, 2020. The meeting will be held at 7 pm Eastern, 6 pm Central, 5 pm Mountain, and 4 pm Pacific. I will be sharing important updates on APS services affected by the closure of our headquarters, news on APS programs and events, and how we plan to keep the APS as a vital part of the hobby in 2020 and beyond. Following the presentation, I'll be taking your questions, comments, and suggestions.
We held our last Town Hall on April 9, 2020, and unfortunately, some of you missed the event due to holiday conflicts and room limitations. We apologize, but we hope you plan to join us for this event. We have also increased the room size limit to accommodate up to 500 people.
The Town Hall is scheduled to last an hour, but I am glad to stay longer to make sure we answer all questions, and everyone gets a chance to comment. The Town Hall is open to everyone, but you will need to register in advance. Once you register, you will receive a link for the event to use on Monday evening.
One final note, we know fellow members are still working on the front lines tending to the needs of the ill, maintaining critical services, protecting life and safety, or keeping us sustained. The Town Hall will be recorded and posted on the APS YouTube Channel for viewing at your convenience. Thank you for your incredible service. Please take care of yourself, and we're here to serve you when you're able to get back to collecting.
