Hello stamp friends, hope you are all well. Some very interesting posts out there. Continuing our courthouse tour of the world, here is one from Bolivia in 1982 celebrating the 150th anniversary of the court in Cochabamba, showing the then-future courthouse.

Hello stamp friends. Hope you are all well and working hard on your stamps. Here is your courthouse for the week. Another stamp from Bolivia, this time celebrating the sesquicentennial of their Supreme Court in 1977. In addition to the stamp of the court itself are two stamps of important figures in Bolivia's legal history. Very nice set.

Hello stamp friends, I hope you are all well. Continuing our tour of courthouses around the world is a stamp from Brazil honoring the 120th anniversary of the Supreme Court of the state of Piaui. I hope all of my fellow American stamp friends have a peaceful and meaningful Memorial Day weekend.

Hello stamp friends and happy Monday. First of all I want to thank JeffS for the International Court of Justice sheet, showing the courthouse at The Hague in The Netherlands. I have been doing some research and think that this field (international courts) might yield an interesting article for the newsletter. A little too early to say. Anyway, in keeping with that topic, here is a recent stamp from France, showing the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. It is an official stamp for use by the Council of Europe, which includes the court. Fascinating architecture.

Hello stamp friends, Hope this finds all of you well. My expedition into the realm of courthouses on stamps has had some interesting discoveries. I have been a judge for almost 30 years and it is not often I find out about an international court I never heard about before. Such is The Inter-American Court of Human Rights, located in San Jose, Costa Rica. In 2019 Costa Rica issued a pair of stamps honoring the Treaty of San Jose, which created the court. The two stamps show the courthouse and a gavel. The court is affiliated with the Organization of American States (OAS), and serves to uphold and promote basic rights and freedoms in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Hello stamp friends and happy Sunday. The above post on Nelson Mandela got me thinking that a pretty interesting article could be written about his life on stamps and other postal history. One such item would be this commemorative envelope celebrating 75 years of the South Africa Prisons Service. Robben Island, where Mr. Mandela was imprisoned, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are many fascinating facts about Nelson Mandela. I always thought it was interesting that he used his time in prison to learn to read and speak Afrikaans. His purpose, and here I am paraphrasing, was to be able to understand a people you must read their history and literature and communicate with them. Also, many of the guards referred to him as "Mr. Mandela."

Hello stamp friends, I hope everyone is doing well. We will continue our tour of South Africa courthouses for a while. Up first, a 3c definitive stamp from 1982 showing the Appelhof, or Appeal House, in Bloemfontein. It is home to the Supreme Court of Appeal in South Africa, distinct from the Constitutional Court. As with many low-value definitive stamps it is difficult to find one used on cover.

Hello stamp friends. I send everyone my very best. I thought I would stay in southern Africa for a while. Here is a recent block of stamps from South Africa about the architecture of the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg. It appears to be a very beautiful modern building.

Another arrival today is the self-adhesive version of the Paris Bar Association themed stamp, from 2010. We've seen the gummed version earlier in this thread. The self-adhesive is much rarer because it is one of those issues that the French Post does not sell to the general public but only in bulk to large corporate customers.

Hello stamp friends. Hope you are all well. I have a question about this 1954 stamp from Saar, Scott 249. I have been told that the building is the courthouse, I assume in Saarbrucken. I have not been able to confirm that with an internet search and the Scott catalog does not say. If it is the courthouse, it would of course fit in my topical collection of stamps portraying them. Thanks for the help! I have also posted this on the Saar page.
I have been informed that this is actually the city hall or rathaus.

Good morning! The prompt response by stamp friends on the Saar page has told us that the above stamp is NOT the courthouse in Saarbrucken. It is the old city hall. Oh, well. In recompense here is a 1968 stamp from West Berlin showing the state courthouse in Berlin.

Hello stamp friends. I hope all of you in the United States are enjoying Labor Day. I searched in vain for a stamp showing a courthouse connected to labor law issues. Brazil, however, issued one in honor of their Labor Law Court, showing a statue of blind justice. I am also including a picture of the Labor Law Court buildings in Brasilia, Brazil. Have a pleasant week everyone.

Well, friends, I spoke too soon. I was updating catalog listings for my legal topic when, low and behold, I found this 2011 stamp from Brazil, honoring the Fortaleza branch of the Labor Court, showing the courthouse! It is Scott 3176 and came with a label that could be personalized. Brazil has issued at least five stamps showing courthouses, so that could be a mini-topic. Now I feel better.

Hello stamp friends, I hope you are all having a pleasant Sunday. Continuing of courthouse tour of the world we stay in Brazil. This stamp from 1989 honors the 380th anniversary of the Court of Justice in Bahia, Scott 2161. Unfortunately, it appears the court has a new home, a more modern structure.

Hello Stamp Friends, I hope you are all having a pleasant Sunday. Salentin posted immediately above the beautiful stamp from India commemorating the 50th anniversary of their Supreme Court. India also has a history of honoring their state high courts. Several of them have previously been shown on this thread. Here is a more recent stamp from India honoring the Patna High Court Centennial in 2015. Issued April 18, 2015. Let me also put in a plug to vote for the best article in the Newsletter in the last year. I did.

Hello stamp friends, Hope you are all well. It is warm out here in Los Angeles this weekend. It is Columbus Day weekend here. In honor of Christopher Columbus and his patron, Queen Isabella of Spain, I offer a recent stamp from Spain celebrating the 25th anniversary of their Constitutional Court showing the very interesting courthouse. Take care everyone.

Hello stamp friends. I hope you are all well. Tomorrow is Veterans Day/Armistice Day. First of all, let me send my best wishes to all my fellos veterans (US Army - 1980-1985 - Germany and California). I have two military and World War I related courthouses today. First up is Brazil, which declared war on Germany in October 1917 after the German resumption of unrestricted submarine warfare and the sinking of a Brazilian ship. It is Scott 862, issued April 1, 1958. The stamp honors the 150th anniversary of the Supreme Military Court. I believe it is one of the oldest standing military tribunals in the world. On the other side of the conflict was Turkey, one of the Central Powers. My wife is Australian and I have attended several ANZAC Day ceremonies in Australia and in Los Angeles. They are always very moving. Shown is an FDC honoring the 100th anniversary of Turkey's Court of Military Appeals, issued on 06/04/2015. The court actually dates to 1914, meaning it began during World War I. Interestingly, the military court system in Turkey was abolished in 2017. I hope everyone has a peaceful and meaningful day tomorrow. Will

Hello stamp friends. Hope you are all well. Sorry I have been out of touch, life took over for a couple of months. It has been rainy here in Los Angeles and I know many of you have been dealing with Winter weather. So, I thought it was time for a Caribbean vacation! Let's start 2022 with a nice stamp from The Bahamas celebrating their 25th year of independence and showing the Supreme Court building. It is Scott 912, issued July 10, 1998.

Hello stamp friends. Hope you are all well. The Australian judicial system has found itself in the news over the travails of tennis champion Novak Djokovic. In going back through this thread I see that I have not posted the stamp for the opening of the High Court of Australia in 1980 by Queen Elizabeth II. Here is a maxi-card using the stamp. Scott 742, May 19, 1980. I am also including the mini-sheet issued in 2003 for the centennial of the High Court. Scott 2185-86, Sept. 2, 2003. I personally think those stamps are a little too busy. Enjoy the weekend.

Hello stamp friends, I hope you are all well. Many of us use stamps to get away from the problems of the world, I am no exception. But the world will have a way of intruding itself. Today we turn to Ukraine. I was unable to find a Ukrainian stamp that shows any of their courthouses. However, I did find a 2019 stamp that commemorates the 60th anniversary of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France. Several other nations also issued stamps showing that unusual courthouse.

I was surprised, but happy that this stamp hadn't been posted yet. This 70ยข stamp issued December 2, 2008 is for the inauguration of the new Palace of the Court of Justice of the European Communities. It is located in the city of Luxembourg. Michel: 1817, Scott: 1255.
