An individual in the UK has a number of stamps he is planning on selling, most of which are North Korean, and he is seeking information and advice from our members about the below sheet. If you are able to provide information and/or advice, please post on this thread.

Hi, Steve ( Admin ): This stamp appears to be North Korea, Sc 14. Here is an excerpt from my 2013 Scott Catalogue: As this is not at all my area, I have no idea if a large multiple or full sheet is especially valuable or not, but the CV in 2013 was $15 for an unused single, so that's not bad.

The problem with all the early N Korea stamps is that they were reprinted in great numbers between 1955-58 The "reprints" all have inconsistencies and I have no knowledge if they were sanctioned - if not they are forgeries The main trait of the reprints is the number and shape of the windows show on the reprint on the left The size of the star in the flag is noted as is the difference in the letters and numerals Any others of that period I may be able to tell the difference with a good scan This article image is also noted to be a "reprint" but it greatly differs from the Original or the reprint above The overall is very coarse and the building has an extra story. The 2nd 9 is far too low & no period

Let's call them re-releases.

Admin, there are at least two articles I noted on identifying North Korean reprints from this time period on the Korea Stamp Society webpage that might be of interest to this collector. Membership, after submission of an application, is free. It sounds like this person has more to sell and this information might be helpful. Here is a weblink to pass along in case this collector is interested, koreastampsociety.org/. Unfortunately I can't share the articles here. One of the two articles identifies reprints of this time period and the information that marking noted above is essentially correct. If the building noted has 3 stories (blurry but visible above) like the brighter blue stamp noted above it would be the reprint and not the original. It looks as if the full sheet is the original. None of the articles I saw speaks to the existence of or to the identification of possible forgeries.

Thanks, darkormex . For the awareness of all, I had provided the individual with a link to this thread so he is able to follow all of its responses.

Here is a little bit of additional information (though not much) from the North Korean, Korean Stamp Catalogue (1946-1992). Unfortunately, the only real additional information given is that it was reprinted in 1957 and it shows images (no fine detail visible, unfortunately) of all 3 of the stamps and gives specific details of the sizes of each stamp.
