Went through 3 pages in thread trying to find a spot for this one CANADA 82 was a nice gesture by the US Postal Service when they honored Canada 82, an international philatelic youth exhibition.....by issuing this souvenir card. 2 identical cards found with CAPEX 78 posted elsewhere and taken with Iphone (wife) so this is not a scan 1 is postmarked by the US Postal Service May 20, 1982

I cannot pass up this opportunity to direct you to and promote The Souvenir Card Collectors Society, of which I am a member and TSF Member gregalex is the vice president and moderator of its website at www.souvenircards.org/index.html. In the U.S., these are known as souvenir cards and are issued for major philatelic and numismatic shows. If you go to the Image Gallery and click on Main Gallery of the website, you will see several categories of cards issued by different organizations and agencies. Most of the cards shown in this thread are in the SO (Semi-Official) category, although the first one shown by renden is in the PS (Postal Service) category. Most of the additional philatelic cards are in the B (Bureau of Engraving & Printing) category, but there are some in other categories, as well. There is even a category for cards issued by the Canada Post Corporation (CP). For more in-depth discussions and historical presentations of souvenir cards and security engravings, click on the "New Online Forum" character at the upper right of the website. It will bring you to the Souvenir Cards & Security Engravings portion of the Paper Money Forum. It is a wonderful resource for viewing the history of security printing and the engravers' arts.

Many thanks to de61 for letting folks know about the SCCS website. We've been plugging away at the Image Gallery for a couple years now and have built up a visual catalog with more than 1500 images. New discoveries are always welcome. One of our most recent additions that Don mentioned is the Canada Post (CP) gallery. souvenircards.org/gallery/CP/CP.htmlThis is an area we could definitely use some help with, as there are very likely cards that have yet to be catalogued.
