Hi, I live in Cornwall, UK. I'm retired and am resurrecting my interest in stamps that I was last involved with 30+ years ago. At that time I was a teacher and during a couple of lunchbreaks each week ran a stamp club with the kids where they could help themselves to stamps that I kept in a couple of boxes. I recently met a chap who has Asperger's syndrome, lives by himself and has been bored rigid by the lockdown and not meeting people. I asked if he would like to sort through the boxes of stamps that I still had and make them up into packets for sale at charity shops to raise funds, he said that he would. I sorted through the boxes and found odds and ends that I'd forgotten about, one of which was a Morely - Bright watermark detector which had dry dye sacks. It was while I was searching online for replacement sacks that I was patched through to this site and found it both friendly and interesting

Good morning, woodfrey, and welcome to TSF! You must be real night owl, as according to the time stamp on your post, it was around 3am here! I am also in the UK, over in Oxford. It is 7am now, and I will start working shortly, as I am not yet retired. I look forward to hearing about your adventures with the old collection. Cheers, Chris ( Beryllium Guy)

Welcome to the forum - and more importantly welcome back to the world of stamps. Hope you'll find it even more enjoyable now than you did 30 years ago. That stuff tucked away for 30 years sounds very interesting - we love pictures, so don't be shy Jon

Thank you for my welcome. My apologies in advance should I post in the wrong section, it will take me a while to familiarize myself with TSF
I have among my 'things' (yet to be located) an album from the 1880's obtained many years ago at an auction and would like to aim towards using it for a collection of stamps of that era, can you offer advice regarding locating the stamps.

woodfrey - "locating your stamps"... If the album is a worldwide collection, I would suggest looking for a Classic stamp specialized catalogue (and it doesn't necessarily need to be new). If the album is more focused on one (or a few) countries, then a specialized catalogue for those countries would offer even greater details. Used affordable copies can typically be found. Although they may not be printed in the English language, but the Google Translator (a link is in the masthead of the forum, works well, humorously well at times, but for the most part you can decipher the meaning On the other hand, if your question pertains to actually finding, I'm afraid I'm not much help, but it's always in the last place you look for it Cheers Stan
