I recently became interested in covers posted from ships. How about sharing your covers along with a pic of the ship? I’ll get us started and repost one of mine here. Bermuda cancels are a new area I’m planning to Collect and research. Ireland Island cancels are from the naval dockyard from what I’ve read and are often found on ship covers. But this cover has me puzzled wondering why these are cancelled at the Warwick PO which is farther from the docks. The HMS Danae with dazzle camouflage

Great stuff philatelia ! A study of ocean mail along with their representatives, the ocean mail clerks, could be a fascinating area that is ripe for exploration ;-) From the generalist to the specialist there is no limit as to the studies possible and I applaud your interests.
As an area of focus, the Arctic and Antarctic have a wealth of material to review, collect and study. As an example, ships from the U.S.A involved with Operation Deep Freeze beginning in 1955-56 all maintained post offices for the philatelist and here is one of those covers,
Cover from Operation DEEPFREEZE 63 (1962-1963) with ship cancel and signed by then commanding officer E.A. Davidson.
Happy collecting!

oldpapercollectTwo nice covers from Israel, thanks for showing them. I noticed that on the first of them the cache has shortened the name of the ship to 'Theo.Herzl' which I find most odd. Surely there was plenty of room there to give the ship it's full title, especially with a limited edition cache. You might want to change your title on the second Israel cover. It should read S/S Kedmah (progress). The last letter on the English part of the cancel is an 'H' but it is not clear. The S/S Kedmah was the first ship purchased by the new State of Israel. It was purchased in London and after an overhaul delivered to Israel in 1947. It was the first ship to bring new immigrants from Europe who survived WW2. Nice ones !

USS EDISTO
I've been collecting covers for a few years, going back I believe before the term postal history was coined.
Operation Deep Freeze cover addressed to yours truly in 1962 during my school days.
Are you aware that the Frigidaire company objected to the Navy using the word Deepfreeze and the Navy changed the wording to two words, Deep Freeze as seen on this cover.

Happy collecting!

The penguins don't seem too happy to have this ship so close. They are like "first the killer whales, now this!"

I don't collect ships' covers, but occasionally a ship reference will come with a cover collected for other reasons. These two out of my Airmail Border collection. The first canceled aboard USS West Virginia and the second from USS Tennessee, both battleships.

Thanks, oldpapercollect. They are among my favorites. You may have noticed that the bottom one with the USS Tennessee cancel has a slightly different border and different airmail statement printed at the bottom left.
There are also a couple of peculiarities about these envelope designs. One, I have never seen one canceled by a ship that is not a cruiser or a battleship, and, two, I have never seen one canceled later than 1941. If someone has one with a cancel from a lessor ship or even an aircraft carrier, or one canceled later than 1941, I hope they will post it.
I have only one other cover with a ships border and it was canceled in Honolulu in April 1940 and it comes with a letter that indicates the sender was stationed aboard USS Nashville, a cruiser.

Here is one of my favorites, cancelled aboard the U.S. Frigate Constitution (Old Ironsides) during her call in San Francisco, California on March 31, 1933. For more on Constitution and her National cruise, see the article beginning on p.17 of Volume 3, Issue 3 of the Forum's Newsletter.

Well, Steve ( tomiseksj ), I am so glad to see that you consider this cover and its contents one of your favorite items. Although you once told me that you didn't remember where you got it, I sent you this item as part of the Uncle Bill's Giveaway in Dec-2018, but I actually acquired it at a local stamp club auction when I was still living in Arizona in 2017. Anyway, it does me good to know that you have enjoyed this so much, and that it inspired your excellent newsletter article, too!

Here is another ship's cover, much in the same style as the two above, at least with the Clipper cachet. This one also from my Airmail Borders collection and postmarked aboard USS Houston, a cruiser (CA-30) while paying a call to the port of Houston.
USS Houston came to a bad end on February 28,, March 1, 1942. The Japanese navy sank Houston with a series of torpedo hits and subsequent ship's fire with the loss of more than 600 of its crew, and over 300 captured of which another 77 died in captivity.
The sender of this cover was Charles R. Schaid, Jr, a musician 2/c, a member of the ship's band. I wondered if he survived the sinking and after checking the list of crew, Charles Schraid was not listed. Apparently, he was fortunate and transferred off the ship between the 1939 posting of this letter and the beginning of WW II.
Don Stamphinger Here is an internet pic of USS Houston:

Chris ( Beryllium Guy ), it is clearly one of my favorites because you graciously sent it to me! As I recall, that mailing also contained a booklet that pertained to the article I had written for the Jan-Mar 2019 issue of the Newsletter (V3.2). For those who may not be inclined to review the Ship of State article, here are my other USS Constitution covers from the National Cruise.

Just wanted to say this is a great thread, so many lovely ship covers and interesting stories, thanks all for sharing. I have a few maritime covers myself, but not available from where I am right now ( I'm at our "summer cabin" by the sea).
I'm looking forward to see more of your eye-watering stuff.
