Hi all This is Grant from New Zealand Like a lot of avid collectors I started collecting as a youngster, helped in part by my grand parents enthusiasm. The as teenage years took hold and other interests appeared, philately took a back seat. Now I have more time to spend I have started getting a small collection of New Zealand Full Face Queens ( also known as the New Zealand Chalons ) together. I am keen to learn more and also share photos and advice wit other collectors. To start with here is a very rare Chalon Essay, first prepared for Bank Notes but later used for the first issue of New Zealand stamps.

Hi, Grant ( gc), and welcome to TSF! I absolutely love the Chalon Head essay.... wow! That is a spectacular showpiece! Along the lines of what DK was hinting at, once you have access from Admin, I hope that you will post the image of that essay in a subject-specific thread somewhere so that it can be more easily found by those who might have an interest. Images in intro threads will pretty much become forgotten and very hard to find as time goes on. Anyway, so glad to have the "NZ trio" on board now ( DK - jimbabwe - gc). I have the feeling that TSF will become the go-to place for Chalon Heads, which would be fantastic! Welcome again, Chris ( Beryllium Guy)

Big icon_smile_welcome to yet another NZ - Chalon collector! This is very good news for all of us that love your iconic early NZ issues. And also good for diversity, excellent to have inputs from a viewpoint with a different perspective - quite literally from the opposite side of the planet!! Looking forward to follow your posts. Don't be shy - we all love pictures - and in particular of the Chalons Jon
