Hello everyone, I'm Chris Bassett from the Portland, Oregon area. I've been collecting since grade school, but took a long hiatus as other obligations took priority. So I'm taking the opportunity that a global pandemic brings and making lemonade if you will. My collecting interests are primarily France and French Colonies, with a focus on post-independent Gabon. I blame anglobob's postings on this forum for sparking the Gabon town cancel interest which then lead to everything else Compared to others on this forum, I'd say I'm an advanced beginner, almost intermediate collector. Just don't ask me anything about British Commonwealth I look forward to participating on the forum! Thanks, Chris

Just don't ask me anything about British Commonwealth Hi Chris, and welcome. Sooo... just being facetious here... is asking you why you don't want us asking you anything about British Commonwealth in fact asking you something about British Commonwealth? If so, I withdraw the question and reiterate the Welcome! Andy

Welcome to the group !!! Glad I raised your interest in French Colonies.I also am interested in QE2 Commnwealth issues.Hope to see some of your collections. Anglobob I was already a collector of French Colonies, just not focused on any one particular colony. So in picking things back up, I knew I'd be collecting classic France as budget allows, but needed some "cheap fun". Collecting Gabon town cancels is definitely fun, especially when looking up the location on Google Maps. So then I doubled back to classic France to look at "annulation typographique" and now I'm really down some rabbit holes. Thanks, Bob, see what you started??!! As soon as all of those recently purchased lots get delivered, I'll share what I have.

Welcome to TSF, Chris ( chrischross )! Thanks for a nice introduction. Greetings from another Chris.... I am a US expatriate living in the UK. I know Oregon a bit, having visited Ashland, Corvallis, and Klamath Falls several times to see family. I have only been to Portland once or twice. Thanks for your kind comment in the Shout-Box about my TSF Newsletter article on the Paris Stamp Market. It was a great experience; I paid the market another visit before we left France and moved to England in Oct-2019. Anyway, looking forward to seeing some posts of your France and Colonies material. Enjoy your time with us! -Chris ( Beryllium Guy )
