What does “cassette” mean when used in auction lot descriptions. Cancels?
Thank you!

Terri ( philatelia ), I think it is referring to a slip-cover or slip-case for an album. It looks to me like a term used by non-native English speakers.

British English: cassette /kæˈsɛt/ noun
A cassette is a small, flat, rectangular, plastic container with magnetic tape inside, which is used for recording and playing back sounds.
American English: cassette
Arabic: كَاسِيت
Brazilian Portuguese: fita cassete
Chinese: 盒式磁带
Croatian: kazeta
Czech: kazeta
Danish: kassette
Dutch: cassette
European Spanish: casete
Finnish: kasetti
French: cassette
German: Kassette
etc etc we use the term in french - Chris has another dictionary and meaning

I am not using a dictionary, I am taking the meaning from context.
On the auction website: ".... album plus cassette... "
So, I think it means a slip-case.

"Cassette" is a trick word, which has many meanings depending on context. In old French, it used to mean a small wooden box (like where you would keep jewelry). The meaning has thus evolved to extend to lots of small containers. In the music industry, it's the "cassette (K7) magnetic tape", so "album plus cassette" could be an old vinyl album accompanied by the cassette tape holding the same music. I am unaware of the word having a special philatelic meaning, so if the auction item is stamp related, then I would lean towards an old small container box of some kind.

Yes - looking for a Philatelic related definition. Thanks for the help!
Slipcover might be the closest fit of all you suggested. Here is a sample stamp auction lot using the term cassette:
Very fine collection 1983-2010 in Leuchtturm album+ two leaves with cassette. Containing all mini sheets and six booklets etc. Mi approx. 830 Euro.
FYI - from a Swedish auction house

Ah, OK. With that example, I would understand the protective cardboard box slip cover that surrounds the albums to help them stand vertically on a shelf.

Thank you, renden , Beryllium Guy and hrdoktorx ! The Stamp Forum folks are the BEST! Those Lighthouse (Leuchtturm) slip cover binders are expensive - makes a difference in how much I would bid.

I can confirm Chris's suggestion. Cassette (Kasett) is often used in Norwegian auction listings, meaning slipcase for an album.
