Dear all,
My name is Meryem van Gelder and I am one of the daughters of my late father, Gerben van Gelder, from StampWorldHistory.com. I intend to restore his website as it was his lifework in which he has put an enormous amount of effort and love. I was amazed and touched by some of the reactions I found in the stamp community and I am motivated to restore his work. It has been a while because it is an emotional job for me and my brother and sister, but I am motivated to learn about putting the website up again in the coming time. I created this account so I could come in contact with people that were readers of StampWorldHistory and may be of help. I also want to expand my knowledge about stamps in general and the history. As a to-be historian I think it is a beautiful and unique niche and I would like to learn more about it.
Wishing you all the best, Meryem
*Edit 26th September 2022*: Little update: It has been a while again, as I got stuck on the hosting domain. It seems that there is no backup in 'the cloud' so to speak. However, the website can be found on the internet archive. Over time we would like to rebuild the website, but this again may take some time. It would be great if in the future, the website and its information could grow through interaction with the visitors, as Gerben would have wanted it to.
*Edit 24th August 2023*: I would like to give a small update. A while ago we were able to retrieve the website and it is currently available under the URL: stampworldhistory.nl
It does not function 100% correct, but all the information and the work of my father is still there. My family and me hope that it will be of use to collectors!!

That's great that you are planning on getting SWH back up again, Meryem! I've missed the site, and look forward to seeing Gerben's labor of his love for stamps/history again!

Welcome, Meryem! I think your undertaking is a wonderful way to honor your Father's memory. Gerben made a number of contributions to the Forum and its Newsletter during his time with us. You can find all of his postings by inserting on his userID (SWH) in the "Who to search..." portion of the Forum's search function. Also, the Newsletter Index may be used to find the articles published in the first two Volumes of our Newsletter. Please keep us updated on your progress and let us know if we can be of assistance.

Hi Meryem to the Forum. I was your father's "on-line" friend. I helped Gerben with the web site as an editor and sometime researcher. Your father and I talked on the internet a few times. I am glad to hear that you plan to restore the site. If you need any help just ask. Jerry B

Welcome Meryem! I look forward to seeing the site! I feel woefully lacking in history as I sort through my stamps. Especially European history. I hope you are able to get your father’s old site up and running again. I’d love to check it out!

Greetings Meryem to a great site. I worked with Gerben as an editor. I am glad to see you here. If you need anything I'll try to do what I can as I have been sick myself lately. I am glad you are going to revitalize Gerben's site. He put a lot of work into it. He was a great internet friend. Jerry B
