This is my number 4.

Some of my number 15. I love collecting this stamp because it is relatively affordable, has great cancellations and a ton of varieties (to make you scratch your head).
And this is my all time favourite Canadian stamp. I can't remember the number offhand right now.

Not 100% sure but I believe the dead letter is a UNITRADE/SCOTT 0X2. I will have look it up. I like it, I have placed a few bids on auctions for one myself.

Nice additions rileysan! Those are some nice copies of some the harder to find admirals!

Thank you! I'm still looking for the elusive 111 & 116 in MNH (at a price I can afford), and an upgraded copy of 113 (mine is 'fine') and I will have the whole set in VF+ MNH. I started collecting these in MNH 3 years ago!

A quick question that you might be able to answer - what on earth is with the marker on that block of 20c KEVII? I have a bunch of old Canadian stamps and it's surprising how many are cancelled with that marker. I snooped around for a while once and eventually decided that the marker was a lithographic crayon, based on the oiliness often seen from the back side of the stamp. But I was never able to find out why the stamps were marked. I've seen threads on stamp forums about British stamps with wax pencil marks from registered mail, but by the time of KEVII Canada had those big circled R cancellations for that. I've seen auction lots of mail bags with proper CDS cancellations, and I've never been able to figure out where those marker cancellations came from. I have a lot of them, probably 20%-30% of my KEVII - KGV stamps above letter rate have that style of obliteration.

Actually have no clue. Was happy to find that block at price I could spend.I'm still paying college loans for daughter, big dollar spending is a ways off.Would you know of a online site to research cancellations?I have some mid thirties with letter cancel.Would love to learn about these.I have tried Canadian museum but nothing available there.Bnaps.org has limited stuff.

I think that is a grease pencil that was used on the 20c. Those are still used in engineering, marking numbers on machinery in mills and plants, etc. Someone in the post office must have found one left behind after a machinery installation and drooled with excitement in using it on stamps ...the marker monkey of yesteryear.

that's one of my favorite issues. This particular design had so many printings you could create a collection of just this one design.I'll try to post my page of them tomorrow(wife's sleeping next to stamp desk)

here's a tip took me years to learn about how to tell whether those admirals are wet printing or dry printing.first find a two cent carmine perfed four sides then find 3cent carmine same. The 2cent was only printed WET so that is the narrow design. The three cent only printed dry thats your wide design.By using these"controls" you need only line up the designs not measure each stamp.

Here's the results of todays labor.A booklet single,a nice city cancel, a strange offset,a type 1,and a stitch watermark.Unfortunately I had to create a separate page for just this one stamp, this is rapidly becoming the norm for my collection which is now in eleven volumes and growing.

Here is a close-up of #17, the one on the wonder cover I got from Froggy in the TSF donation auction. The top perfs are actually in excellent shape, the colours of the stamp and envelope blend in on the scan.
