Hello all, I have GB SG 362. It is mnh, and I would like to support to shed some light on the over print on this stamp. Thanks, Quincy

What I collect: If I have a catalogue for it, I collect it. And I have many catalogues ....

This is a cancellation type known as a slogan cancel - in addition to the postmark portion which shows the date and town where the letter was cancelled, there is also an additional slogan section which can act as an advertisement or a public service announcement or a commemoration, among many other possible uses. If it looks like your stamp still has gum on the back, this is common with UK stamps of that era, which had a more resilient type of gum which often doesn't come off the back of the stamp unless extra soaking time (or help by rubbing it with the fingers) is used. Here's a full view of your cancel, nabbed from an eBay auction listing. Ryan

This is not an overprint, but an slogan postmark.
