Our forum was contacted by an individual in the UK seeking advice on disposing of his Great Britain four Kings era collection. Specifically, he has provided the following and would appreciate any advice you may be able to provide. The photos provided follow. If you'd like to review the spreadsheet or contact him directly, send me a PM.

I'm in the same boat as René!
Very nice collection that anyone would be happy to have!
When (and if!) I win the lottery, I'll give him what he wants!

I have no experience selling a collection but I'm sure we have a few members ( Londonbus1 , vikingeck or others) that may have experience doing so. If you are considering Sandafayre, have you made an initial inquiry with them? The approach they describe is non-binding and cost-free and the manner in which they respond may give you a sense as to whether or not you wish to proceed further with them. If you do take their first step, make sure that your images clearly show the stamps. If you have access to a scanner, scan the pages instead of taking photographs (images will be in focus, glare eliminated, etc.) and crop away all extraneous background. Only send images of the higher value stamps. If you send your spreadsheet, I'd not provide the column that indicates the price you paid. I hope this is of some help to you.

I have sold collections including those from Great Britain but have always done so by the slow route, selling individual items or sets one-by-one. I can say that, having met and discussed selling with the Boss of Sandafayre in London, they are a very good, honest and reputable firm. They can be trusted in their opinions and advice. I will add that from the photos shown in the initial post here that the buyer, in my view, has overpaid for his stamps Mint Never hinged though they may be. I don't think he will make anywhere near that figure in selling and maybe even less than his 'half what I paid' estimation. But not all the items are shown so this is merely a guess.

Unfortunately, dealers would only pay a much smaller percentage than they sold it. It seems like a nice collection but even a collector would have to see more.

A dealer will look for the key items in this period , eg any Edward high values, are the small definitives a complete set and are there any print variations identified to save time . In the GV period he will look for the PUC £1 and nice early printing of the Seahorses to 10/- and £1 . His price estimate will be based on these .
By and large there is little in the GVI range he is likely to give much extra for, the dark blue 10/- coat of arms and Silver Wedding £1, though the latter is commonly available unless unmounted mint.
Are there any unusual items like control numbers ?
I too have dealt with Sandafayre, as a buyer they are a lively operation . I believe they will give a fair market assessment , no harm in asking . Contact also UPA , who are widely advertised , for a comparison figure and advise Sandafayre you want a second opinion on any offer.
Again my experience has been mostly selling breakdown collections and individual items . For all its faults eBay is still the no1. Route to the selling market for me, but that takes time and as a retiree I have time.
it depends how soon you want, or need your money?
