wiki Bioko (spelled also Bioco, in Europe traditionally called Fernando Pó) is an island 32 km off the west coast of Africa, specifically Cameroon, in the Gulf of Guinea. It is the northernmost part of Equatorial Guinea with a population of 260,000[citation needed] and an area of 2,017 km2 (779 sq mi). It is volcanic with its highest peak the Pico Basile at 3,012 m (9,882 ft). In 1472, the Portuguese navigator Fernão do Pó was the first European to visit the island. He named it Formosa Flora ('Beautiful Flower'), but in 1494 it was renamed after it was claimed by the Portuguese (Fernando Pó). The Portuguese developed the island for sugarcane crops, and while considered poor quality, the refineries' output was such that Fernando Po sugar briefly dominated the trade centres in Europe. In 1642, the Dutch East India Company established trade bases on the island without Portuguese consent, temporarily centralizing from there its slave trade in the Gulf of Guinea. The Portuguese appeared again on the island in 1648, replacing the Dutch Company with one of their own, also dedicated to slave trading and established in its neighbour island Corisco. Located in the bight of Biafra

Admin: So we have not sorted how to bring threads into "updated" notice on "recent threads" ? I posted 5 stamps, to an earlier post under Fernando Po No one would see them, unless I make this post? Trust I am not hasseling you I would guess that is something right at the root of the software used by ProBoards. Posts appear to be given strictly sequential links when they are created. For example, the four posts so far in this thread have the following URLs: thestampforum.boards.net/post/5568thestampforum.boards.net/post/5576thestampforum.boards.net/post/5578thestampforum.boards.net/post/5644That isn't so unusual - some other boards use software that gives sequential links as well, and some give those big long hexadecimal strings, who knows what that represents. I would imagine the ProBoards software simply looks for post numbers in reverse ordinal fashion when creating the list of recent threads. Editing a post wouldn't change the URL link to that post, and if that's what the board software looks for, an edit wouldn't be picked up when looking for recent threads. Trying to order a list based on the timestamp would only be possible if the board software has a way of looking for that. So, I snooped a bit for that, and found this post on the ProBoards tech forum from somebody looking to do the same thing, ordering by edit timestamp rather than by post URL number. It sounds like they never found a proper solution, and the ProBoards admin just decided it didn't work because it didn't work, even though it was probably supposed to. ha ha support.proboards.com/thread/451876/editing-last-post-thread-listRyan

Nice work / explanation Ryan, well done you. So that makes for a serious failing for proboards in an area like stamp collecting. The other forum had it, and was a major benefit, no "bumps" needed, you just merely changed a space in the text, for it to renew. A Major flaw, anyone adding to a thread, by appending a post, will not have it seen by members.

I find appended posts can be confusing, especially in multi-page threads. On SCF, imagine if somebody edits a post on the 120+ page stamp engravers thread. Who knows how many pages you might need to look through in order to spot the change. It's fine when there are only a few posts in a thread, but if a thread is well populated then it can get confusing to try to sort out edited posts.
There can be arguments made both for and against, I'm sure. I do like the way you preface your country posts with space for a map and sundry info, but that info usually gets put into place fairly early in your posts so it isn't too tricky to spot regardless of whether that edit triggers a bump up in the thread order or not.

That is an excellent point Ryan, I have spent time sifting through threads, when I have made a "search" However, when one appends a post, does not the appended post itself show in the "recent posts" list? OR does it just show the last post of the complete thread?
Say I append ( add to, or change, or delete parts of) my post 6, on page 4 of a 66 page thread, the appended post shows in "recent posts" does it not?
I will stand corrected.

Located in the bight of Biafra Given the apparent forum software limitation, a possible work around would be to quote the post that you want to update and add your new material. Any images that had been added as attachments in the original post would not appear in the quote box but readers could return to the original post if they wanted to view them. If the thread had gotten to the 120+ pages that Ryan spoke of, you could add a link to the original post for viewing convenience. This approach isn't ideal but it would achieve the result you're after (visibility as a recent post) and present relevant material in a single post.
