This is the only stamp-less letter that I own. I picked it up to occupy the frontispiece of my Canada album. I liked it because historically, it was sent the year after the province of Canada was formed to a favorite city of mine; Niagara Falls, Ontario. But, more than any other reason, I admired the senders penmanship on this single sheet cover.

Some facts from the Canadian Museum of History:
1841 • Upper and Lower Canada are united as the Province of Canada with the passing of An Act to Re-unite the Provinces of Upper and Lower Canada, and for the Government of Canada, also known as the Act of Union, effective 10 February. For administrative purposes, Upper and Lower Canada are renamed Canada West and Canada East.
• Exchange post offices to the United States are established at Woodstock, New Brunswick, Québec, Stanstead, Montréal, Prescott, Brockville, Kingston, Toronto, Queenston, Sandwich, and Niagara.
1844 • The system of rating letters according to the number of sheets is changed to rating by weight, effective 5 January

I own about 15 from my late dad, all relevant to my Province and area - earliest dates way back to 1834
