First anniversary of the May-Revolution,the coup that led to the military dictatorship. Issued May 16th,1962.
This is the last issue with Hwan-denomination.On June 10th,1962 the Won replaced the Hwan. 10 Hwan were equal to 1 Won.
Stamps in Hwan-currency remained valid.
With this series a most unusal group of souvenir sheets was issued. Will be shown in the following posts.

The souvenir sheet set with english inscriptions was issued the same day,May 16th,1962. (I show only one of the set of three) However a "little mishap" was detected soonly and the sale was stopped. 100.000 sets had been printed, about 9000 had been sold, before the sale was terminated. According to Michel the stamps of the 91000 reminders were cut out and sold from post offices all over the country.

salentin: looking in my 2009 Scott's, these sheets are surprisingly affordable, even the one that has the error. Have the prices increased much in the past decade?

Rene, I own no later Scott, than the 2009 pirate-version. To me the pricing ($ 75.- for the korean text,$ 150.- for Postage and $ 75.- for Postag) looks somewhat silly. The Postag-version is for sure the most expensive of the three. Michel 2017/18,the latest as far as I know, lists them: € 160.- (korean),€ 320.- (Postage) and € 450.- (Postag). Not that affordable,at least to my pockets. But,of course, the Michel-notations are always on the high side. Werner

A corrected version was printed and put on sale on May 27th,1962. However as that had to be done with great haste, there obviously was no time to re-order the original watermarked granite paper. So the Postage-version was printed on ordinary paper, without watermark.
