I came across this during one of the recent "soaking" episodes. i do not collect Argentina, but the perfin caught my eye. Looking at it closer, the stamp is a 1958 issue, with what appears to be a 1959 postmark, nothing unusual, but I have not seen any other countries with perfins this recent. mThe perfin is very hard to tell from the front, but fromthe back the unpunched perfs can be seen and it looks to be BIR no ideas as to who that might be as my references for South America and positively none dealing with perfins

There is an Argentinian perfin catalogue available for purchase (I don't have a copy), but no online resource that I'm aware of. (I have several pages of WW perfins in a stockbook that someday I'll summon up the bravery to tackle...)

I have purchased the France Ancoper reference on perfins (pricey), and I have some other scattered references, . I also have a smattering of other country stamps with perfins but no urgent desire to go after more references (at the moment) I someone collects Argentine perfins reach out to, I do not see myself going this direction-
f anything I need to narrow things down a few countries!

It's actually "BIRP". If you look very carefully, you can see the left side of the P along the right side of the normal stamp perforations.
BIRP = Banco de Italia y Río de la Plata, used from 1931-1975.
I have to run out unexpectedly. I will post the full perfin when I return if I remember. If I forget, please tag me.

Kim khj - Cool to see you can identify Argentine perfins. Do you have a reference of some sort? I haven't found any yet, so I am struggling to identify my Argentine perfins :

Jon,
I'd have to see if the resource is still online. If not, I have the website archived somewhere. At the very worst, I can probably dig up most of from notes hidden somewhere. I'm afraid I'm not an active perfin collector, so what I know is still rather limited to what info I've run across and decided to keep. I still owe you a list of resources that I never finished from a couple years ago, sorry.
I have to go pick up my daughter, so wait about 2 hours, but I can give you some starters even if I don't know the specific period of use...
FNB = First National Bank of Boston BNA = National Bank of Argentina (sorry, wait for me to look up the original Spanish so the perfin makes sense) BPB = Provincial Bank of Buenos Aires (ditto about Spanish) MAA = it's a manufacturing company, definitely will need to look that one up...
Sorry, gotta run. Will try to work on this when I return...
Meanwhile, enjoy your stamps and stay safe/healthy everybody!

I'm back much earlier than expected. Rush hour traffic was lighter than normal. The online resource I had for Argentina perfins is still accessible: zenius.kalnieciai.lt/america/argentina/perfins/perfins.htmlI will go ahead and ID your perfins blaamand, in case the link goes dead in the future and someone else needs to ID one of those perfins. Also, to get my evening OCD fix.

I have the list of Argentina perfins copied and saved as both MSWord and also a PDF... it doesn't have the links to the pictures, but unlike the Ancoper reference for France, there doesn't seem to be a lot of the same initials used for multiple ownerships

FNB = First National Bank of Boston, used 1920-1978 BNA = Banco de la Nacional Argentina, used 1913-1917 BPB = Banco Provincia de Buenos Aires, used 1913-1951 M // AA = Manufactura Algodonera Argentina, used 1932- CQ = Compania Quimica S.A., used 1945
Row 4, I believe these are both incompletely punched FNB perfins
M = Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, used 1916-1950 U = Urbins S.A. (maybe Urbina?), used 1953-1968 IHC (left stamp, dot beneath "C") = International Harvester Company, Bahía Blanca (Buenos Aires) location, used 1920-1950 IHC (right stamp, dot above "I" and below "C") = International Harvester Company, Santa Fe location, used 1927-1975 JBI = Juan Bautista Istilart sucursal, used 1932-1978
Row 8 Stamp 1 is too blurry for me to see the perfin. MBS = Mitchell's English Bookstore, used 1932-1967 SU // DAM = Compañía Sudamericana de Servicios Públicos, used 1930-1960

Some might have noted that I have a tag/spaceholder for 'BIRP' without a copy? The reason is that stainlessb has generously offered to send his perfin to Norway to Stan, what a man
