Yvert #239, Four (4) [IV] Types
I have tried to interpret the different catalogues- some of the illustrations leave one to need an open imagination as to what information exactly the image (or drawing) is trying to convey.
In addition to Types, even though i do not see a recognized color variant, there does appear to be two "shades" a a black-gray and a dark blue-gray
There are several areas which are described as the determining factors:
The frame "around" the denomination
wether or not the frame continues between the 3 and the "F"
The arch above the clock, and here I am not 100% certain, but based on the images and drawings , it has to do with the top left side 'arch" being broken or solid
and last, the central "porch" area in front of the main/center doors either has 'dots" or it doesn't, however, it only sates for Type II no dots, so I take this to measn all others should have dots...or maybe not a defining trait???
translating from Yvert & Tellier 2021
I- Broken warhead on the left, 3 and F not separated, bottom line interrupted
II-Broken warhead on the left, 3 and F not separated, bottom line continuous
III-Broken warhead on the left, 3 and F separated, no dotted central porches, bottom line contiune ,. (Type III is, in fact, a Type II dial state)
iV- Bulkhead intact, 3 and F separated, bottom line continuous
I take this to mean that the Type II is a variant of the Type II... I can' t find anything that refers elsewhere to the clock face. Bulkhead translated in Google as "Warhead", based on drawings it seems to be in reference to the arch above the clock , as stated above.
the images below shows the frame around the denomination- top image, the frame at the bottom (innermost box) and the next outward frame line is incomplete/open on both sides at the botom. The lower image the bottom of the frame is 'capped" off.
The top image shows that between the 3 and the F the border lines are incomplete. The lower image shows the border lines are complete.
Next is the arch detail
The upper image shows the breack in the left side outer arch, the lower image shows it complete
And finally the "dots", pretty self explanatory.
If any one has examples of each type that they could post, OR if anybody has any additional information, please add to this thread!
