The 2022 set of French souvenir sheets of "philatelic treasures" have just come out. For the special single-stamp sheet that goes to early orders and subscribers like myself, the character of Célimène from Molière's Le Misanthrope, originally shown on a stamp from 1953, was chosen:

In 2013, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tsuburaya Productions (円谷プロダクション), a VFX studio that is notable for creating Ultraman franchise, Japan Post collaborated with the company to issue a box set of 'frame stamps', postcards, letter papers, envelopes, and stickers that was exclusively sold in Eiji Tsuburaya's home prefecture Fukushima. The box contains 4 volumes divided into Heros, Monsters, Mechanics, and postcards. (Please forgive me for using some of the stamps to create maxicards -- hence the empty spot -- scroll down to the end to see the scans of the stamp sheets) Here are the 3 'frame stamp' sheet in their entirety (note that the print quality of these sheets is among the worst I have seen for Japanese philately; it's not the scanner's problem): 3 volumes of this box set that contain the stamp sheet are also available individually, but the postcard volume is exclusive to the box set. This box set is not particularly difficult nor pricy to find on today's market. The 2016 and 2017 'frame stamp' sheets that celebrates the 50th anniversary of Ultraman series are more difficult to find.

Here's a set of six stamps issued by New Zealand in 2023 to mark the 20th anniversary of The Return of the King, the third of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings films (all of which were filmed in that country). I love Tolkien's books, and I love the film trilogy too — I recently rewatched all three of them in full for the first time in years, found them as moving and brilliant as ever, and was inspired to buy these stamps. I usually think that stamps celebrating recent pop culture are a little silly, but 20 years isn't nothing, and anyway I like these. The illustrations appear to be new paintings based on scenes from the film. That's kind of cool. I might have to track down the 20th anniversary stamps that NZ Post issued for the first two films in 2021 and 2022, too.

Stamp issued by Egypt in 2000 to commemorate the 25 th anniversary of the death of the singer Omkolthoum I think she is perhaps the closest contender to Muammar Ghaddafi for the number of different ways in which her name has been transliterated, and that is yet another way! In fact, I've never seen her name as a mononym. From her Discogs page, they list the following: Oum Kalthoum, Oum Kalsoum, Om Kalsoum, Om Kolthom, Oum Kolthoum, Umm Kulthum, Oum Kaltsoum, Oum Kalshoum, Oum Koulthoum, Om Kolsoum, Oum Koulsoum, Om Kolthoum, Oum Kolsoum, Oum Kaltoum, Oum Kahltoum, Om Koulsoum. And there will be more yet, I'm sure. A fine performance, including a typically eager audience, pleased to interrupt frequently with applause and shouting. It isn't unusual at all for single songs to last an hour in her live performances, which are legion - if you're a completist, you'll be listening for months to hear every track a single time ... Ryan

Takarazuka Revue is a Japanese musical theatre troupe based in Takarazuka. It's composed of all-female members who play in Broadway-style musicals and stories adapted from films, novels, manga, etc. The women who play male parts are referred to as otokoyaku (男役) and those who play female parts are called musumeyaku (娘役). Perhaps most notable of the Revue since it had its first performance in 1914 is having performers parading down an enormous stage-wide staircase and a Rockette-style kick line. This staircase lit with lights is often seen in the stamp and cancel design paying tribute to the Revue. For exemple, in 2014, to celebrate the Revue's 100th anniversary of its first performance, Japan Post issued a set of 10 stamps that consists of 5 stamps showing photo images of the previous performances on the staircase, and another 5 illustrations of one or two performers with the staircase in the background: In 2001: In 1999, as part of the 'Stamp Design of the 20th Century, vol.2': This is the pictorial cancel commemorating the 110th anniversary of the troupe:

One of the first covers I made - possibly the very first - was this one for USPS' 1998 Legends of Hollywood stamp for Alfred Hitchcock (Scott 3226). I loved his movies and was very excited about this issue. I prepared the cachet in two ways, as a postcard (almost a maxicard but not quite!), and a #10 envelope. Non philatelic : Hitchcock Just watched 8 episodes of the new RIPLEY film on Netflix A taste or revisit to Hitchcock The screenplay is fabulous, the attention to detail simply extraordinary. That's it, don't want to give spoilers.
