London 2022 International Stamp Exhibition, Feb 19-26.
While I will not make Stampex as I had hoped, I will be coming to London for the re-scheduled International at the BDC next February. It will be my first trip to anywhere in 2½ years and I hope the situation with the pandemic does not change too much until then. After suffering a terrible 2021, I hope the Exhibition will restore my faith in all things for 2022 !! When we cancelled our plans for May 2020, I never thought the next time I would be in the UK would be for the same event almost 2 years later. We all deserve a better time and I hope those others that cancelled their plans for the event in 2020 will be able to attend in February so we can 'go back in time' a little ! It would be nice. I hope those that make Stampex will enjoy the event. Please try and think about 'London 2022' and the possibility of planning the biggest ever TSF meeting. (as we would have had in 2020) Londonbus1

Londonbus1I would love to say that I will be there in February but at the moment, things are still uncertain. All countries in S America are still on the UK list of red zone countries and would require quarantine on arrival.Flight tickets are extremely cheap now too,but I will only purchase once all restrictions have been removed.I do not fancy another fight with KLM if I have to cancel !!! Hopefully, things will have changed by the end of this year and I can start making plans.I have fond memories of the 2010 show and also Stampex 2019. Anglobob

Hope members who can attend will meet each other at least for a "pint" !! Travelling is quite a problem still for us in Canada and it does not bother me or my wife - closest International Airport is Montréal (some 340 miles (548 km one way !!) and presently you need Covid tests prior and after at your own cost + aggravation + risks - so the Stamp Show will be in my office, in Atlantic Canada !! Have fun !

Stampex 2022 London Londonbus1Still looking uncertain for me,even though the ticket price is just over $600----the lowest I have ever seen. I noticed today that the UK govt announced there are only 7 countries on the red list now.And of course,Ecuador is one of the magnificent seven..... S American countries such as Chile,Brazil and Argentina which have much higher infection rates are now considered safe. Fingers crossed that things will change....

LB1 ( Londonbus1).... we have no idea what Covid 19 reserves for us, International travelers, next year....in a couple of months should I say- Living in Europe is different than North America or elsewhere - Nice to think about it but my last cancellation to this event cost me unnecessary $$$ so I will never embark in such a Venture again - before things settle down - wishing the best to all !! Today I stopped thinking about 'London 2022'. It just 'aint gonna happen. Or is it ? With the news that both Israel & UK have scrapped their Red Lists and also a Test or two, it is looking like the big International Exhibition is again a possibility ! It will be cheaper at least and less annoying. And I still have my voucher to use from the cancelled 2020 event. I'll soon be getting the 4th vaccine jab too. Looking into the possibility at least. I am still optimistic about London in February………but wondering if the York 2 day event will still go ahead in a couple of weeks. I have not bought my rail ticket in advance this time as the City council pulled the plug in July at 24 hours notice.

Michael ( Londonbus1) and Alex ( vikingeck), thanks for your posts and your optimism about the London show in Feb-2022.... I am certainly hoping that it will happen! Although I have not made any concrete plans at this point, I am still hoping that it will all go forward and that at least a few of us may be able to get together there. I will also try to stay updated on the status and will advise if I hear any news. I also agree with Alex that it will be interesting to see what happens with the York show this month. Fingers crossed and hoping for the stampy best!

International Stamp Exhibition, BDC London, February 2022If any of our members plan to be at the show Thursday 24th-Saturday 26th, it would be nice to meet up. Beryllium Guy and myself will be in London and we'll be happy to see you and chat about stamps ! A visit to the Charing X Collectors Market on the Saturday morning has also been penciled in. Look forward to seeing you ! Londonbus1 Edit: at the planned meet-up back in 2020 I had planned to hold a special giveaway but the show was cancelled due to Covid. If enough members plan to attend I may consider reviving the 'Live' Giveaway or similar at this re-scheduled event.

I will keep a weather eye open for any posts about the event/s afterwards. I hope all attending will enjoy the event. There will be a write-up in the Newsletter about the build-up, the event and the stamps !! If Steve ( tomiseksj ) will allow a late arrival to the upcoming edition then it will be sooner rather than later ! ( I return on March 6th from the UK, Covid permitting!). While some are unable to make it for various reasons, I hope we get the chance to meet Kevin ( wakeybluenose ) on Saturday 26th and if anyone else is planning to attend then do post here. We would love to see you. A visit to the Postal Museum is also planned. I have not been able to get there on my previous visits so this will be an exciting addition to the itinerary. And if you can't make it, be sure to read that Newsletter.......... Londonbus1....I think I am getting excited !

Thanks for your post, Michael ( Londonbus1).... yes, I am getting excited, too! It's an excellent idea to have an article or two about the show in the next TSF Newsletter. I agree that a small extension on the projected deadline would make it possible to get the material from this show into the next edition. Let's see what Steve ( tomiseksj) thinks about the idea. While we are together, let's talk about that, as I would be happy to contribute one, too. Maybe we both can write something, so we should each write a piece about a different part of the show or the overall experience. Really looking forward to seeing you, Alex ( vikingeck), and Kevin ( wakeybluenose)!

While I hope to renew acquaintance with some dealers, spend wisely, and have a good look at some of the exhibited displays, my three day London trip is focussed on socialising. Sadly I know of 3 familiar faces who have died in the intervening couple of years since my last trip. If York set the pattern last month then a number of usual dealers will be absent, collector footfall will be down . Looking forward to sharing time with Londonbus1 , Beryllium Guy , aka Michael, Chris and Amy , but struggling now as my calendar fills up. Friends from Windsor, ( no not HM!) want to join me on Friday probably for a meal in the evening, my nephew and his wife from Liverpool are in town meeting their daughter at Music college so that means Saturday lunch, I suggested the Strand so I can do the Charing Cross Arches market in the morning. Not a lot of Saturday left to catch up with Kevin wakeybluenose and Trevor, editor of the Samoa Fellowship group journal, up from Devon. I have been to the postal Museum and done the train ride already so opt out of that visit

I can slip the suspense with assurance that product will be forthcoming; however, the Newsletter will be issued not later than March 25th. If material is received too late to make that suspense it will be carried over to the next issue.

Today’s mail brought me the March edition of STAMP COLLECTOR magazine . Enclosed in the package was the official Exhibition Catalogue for the London 2022 show 19-26 February. A full list of all stand holders and complete details of all exhibits in each class , alpha list of names , and a list of them by country ( 114 pages)
I can mark the presentations I want to check out . A good number of folks I know , though no one from my local society on this occasion. The cost of frames is enormous and put me off entering again this year.

Looking forward to a stamp show next week. It's been a long time. The last week here has been sad and painful but I will be flying today for the first time in 2½ years so it is both exciting and a little scary ! It will be a relief to set foot in England once again. Anyone else thinking of attending the Exhibition, please let us know here ! Londonbus1
