I pulled this item from a misc cover lot recently bought. The form should be self-explanatory.
Interesting 9 shilling, 6 pence customs duty assessed for 6 cigarette lighters valued at 60 cents. Customs fee seems a bit excessive, or was the sender lowballing the shipment?
Parcel was refused and returned to sender, kinda neat.
Dated 1938 I am assuming the 1-shilling values are from the less expensive 1938-1939 issue and not the previous 1936-1937 issue. Seems to be rather late use of the really cheaper 1925-1930 issue.
Can someone provide the issued date of the 1-shilling 1938 issue? This card is postmark dated FEB 15, 1938.

JeffS , the George VI postage dues you date as 1938-39 are dated by Stanley Gibbons as 1937-38. The 1 shilling deep blue was issued in October 1937. Specific date of issue information for postage dues was not available until the 1951-52 issues. Nice item though. Daniel

The years I used were per Scott.
