The s.s. to this issue,Michel Bl.61/62. The s.s. are listed by Michel for € 200.-. A reputable dealer in Germany has a selling-price of € 475.-. So looking around for a bargain-offer might be a good idea !

That is Rinpung Dzong in Paro. The national museum is on the hilltop overlooking it.
Here is a photo of the temple along with one of the, well, weed growing around it.

A good example for the principle: never buy a short set ! The 3 Nu is missing and I was reluctant to buy another complete set for thirty years, waiting for the missing one to turn up. King´s Coronation, issued June 2nd,1974. Mi.583-7

Many dismissed these as gimmicks during the exploitation phase in the 60's and 70's but seem much less exploitive than today's issues (pop culture, Lady Diana).

For the last 20 years Bhutan did mostly issue stamps, what are directly in connection to events and sites in the country. Probably they no longer are connected with some US-enterprises,who produced their stamps before that.
King´s 20th birtday,issued Nov.11th,1975. Michel 615-23
Enlarged the three sizes:

I do not see these come up for auction very often. For details you can find at the Canadian auction site Weeda.com Bhutan #152-152F. The rare and popular "oddball" 1973 Phonograph Records issue. Each stamp has different content when played, including folksongs, the Bhutan national anthem and historical facts in English and Bhutanese. 2023 Scott US$461.50 Current bid is at CAD 623.00. I have seen a YouTube video where someone was playing these on their phonograph. Pretty cool if you don't mind the price.

I have had a thing for the Bhutan 3-d / lenticular/ tilt photo stamps since I was a kid. Here in Canada, they had these 3d pictures of animals that came as the prize in Cracker Jacks. Anyone remember them. Here is a reminder. To a kid in the late 60's, these things were magical!!

Here now my absolute favourite of all 3-D-stamps from Bhutan:
The first four stamps from a set of 11 + 2 s.s., issued April 23rd,1976. Michel 656-66,Bl.73-4 I like the portrayed ceremonial masks as such and maybe even more the vivid colours of this issue.

There is a standard set of masks illustrated on several sets of Bhutanese stamps, hanging on temple walls, and worn in festivals. The intent is to familiarize Buddhists with the beings they will encounter between incarnations, so that they won't be frightened.

The complete set again. I took me more than two years to find one and the price was 200 % Michel-cat.-value. But that does not seem unfair to me. Short sets are offered quite often. These are not dirt-cheap,but well below cat.-value. To get the remaining higher values,in the end one will have to buy a complete set,I very much guess !

The two souvenir sheets (Mi.Bl.73-4) are much easiar to find than the complete set of stamps. Listed by Michel at € 40.-,they should cost only a fraction of the cat-price.
