In a recent issue of Stamp Collector (April 2022 Vol.4 Issue 5), Mr. David Bailey shared an article, "New Zealand's First Stamp Explained" where he mentions that the Chalon portrait appear in the stamps of nine (9) other colonies. I am familiar with both the New Zealand stamps referenced by the article and the New Brunswick issue, but what were the others?
Currently toying with the idea of building a thematic collection based on this portrait and as I build out my checklist any insights are appreciated...
Have fun and happy collecting!
P.S. Thanks to Dave ( DK ) who started me down this path; I think :-)

I would add Prince Edward Island. That makes 11, I would query Newfoundland. See this Wikipedia link

Thanks to all that provided input; it is appreciated :-) The final "Queen Victoria by Chalon" checklist looks something like this with ten (10) countries producing stamps based on the Alfred Edward Chalon (1780–1860) painting as depicted here:
- Bahamas
- Canada
- Grenada
- Natal
- New Brunswick
- New Zealand
- Nova Scotia
- Prince Edward Island
- Queensland
- Tasmania Van Diemen
Newfoundland
Newfoundland was scratched from the list as it would appear that this issue is based on another portrait of Queen Victoria painted by Franz Xaver Winterhalter (1805-73) which currently hangs in the Garter Throne Room of Windsor Castle and can be viewed on the Royal Collection Trust website.
With that and knowing my budget for starting a new collection, this may turn out to be just a whim & fancy or simple flirt...
Have fun and happy collecting!

I have had the same idea and have purchased several of each type. So it is time to mount them.
I am working on a custom page(s). Currently I am thinking of one page for one stamp from each country and maybe other pages for the major types (colors, values, etc) from each country. There are some very rare types that I may not include space for such as Canada 12c Black of 1851 (Sn.3). I mainly use AlbumEasy to create pages but I did this mockup using Word and I plan to use Affinity Publisher to make an identical page in addition to AlbumEasy -- to see how hard it is to create such a page in each.
I tend to like my pages with pretty limited text but if anyone has suggestions for changes/additions, I am listening. I would make these pages available free to anyone who wants copies.
Note: I have currently included Newfoundland because other sources I have found include those as Chalon types but I had the same question about the portrait types.

There are also cinderellas you could add to a Chalon collection. Here's a couple:

Nice page and thanks for showing banknoteguy ; I think it would make a great title or introduction sheet to the theme. However if you continue to include the Newfoundland issue, it will be rather apparent that the image is based on a different painting and may stick out like a sore thumb.
Just my thought...

OK, revised dropping Newfoundland. This one was made with AlbumEasy. Harder to make the boxes go where you want but easier to tweak. Are there more than the two Cinderella types posted previously?

Looking good banknoteguy; the album page is shaping up nicely :-)
As for more Cinderellas, I am only aware of the ones shared by michael. There are other stamps though that are reprints or anniversary issues and can be found on any one of the on-line sellers' websites. At the same time, I did find other bits of ephemera related to the painting or individual countries stamps including this advertising item for New Zealand's "Stampex 95" with its view of the Chalon portrait.
Have fun and happy collecting!

There is this one as well, issued in a sheet with 15 other designs in 1921 to raise funds for an extension to the Margate Cottage Hospital. It is based on War Fund Auction image previously shared which I should point out is not actually a stamp, it's printed on the front cover of the War Fund catalogues from 1916/1917.
Haven't seen any of the Margate Cottage Hospital stamps on EBay etc. for sometime.

Some nice stamps and cinderellas there folks; we do have some keen collectors about ;-) At the same time, there appears to be no shortage of material for building a thematic collection on the topic. In my mind though, no collection, thematic or otherwise is complete without a cover or two and in keeping with today being World Penguin Day (25 April), here is a commercial cover that incorporates both the Chalon portrait and a penguin or two,

Of course, as far as Cinderellas are concerned, one must never forget Gerald King who has used various portraits of British monarchs on his parodies including the Chalon portrait. Here we have Lundy Island stamps overprinted for the Lundy Telegraph Company and featuring a reverse image (a Google search for the Chalon portrait does bring up a few reverse images). Beneath, we see some of his Wonderland versions.
Also, these high values for £500 with one signed by the Mad Hatter!

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

One further item from Mr Gerald King, a cover from Lundy to The Reverend C L Dodgson (better known as Lewis Carroll), Christ Church, Oxford. Mr King at his best!

I found a series of Canadian revenue stamps (1897) that also used the Chalon portrait. There appear to be a lot of values but I do not collect these or have any catalogs.
The one odd thing is the portrait is facing right instead of left. Anyway, I just received this $10 example. Decent example.

Vince ( stanley64 ), just wanted to say thanks for starting this thread, and thanks to all who have contributed to it. I have been enjoying it very much. For newer members who may not have seen it, back on Queen Victoria's 200th birthday in 2019, we started a thread to celebrate that day, which included an image of the Chalon portrait as well as some of the stamps: thestampforum.boards.net/post/76755/threadThis thread is really refining the search for material that uses the Chalon portrait, and I have especially appreciated that, because this is my favorite image of QV. On the subject of Cinderellas, I don't know if DIY renditions count, but if they do, here is one that I designed in MS PowerPoint using images from Chalon proofs. Since the time I originally posted this in the DIY Cindy thread, I have actually printed a small batch of these, and I have sent copies to Darrin ( darkormex ) and Michael ( Londonbus1 ). In the end, I was rather pleased with how this turned out.

Another cover, this time from New Zealand for 150 Years of Stamps. Postmarked Wanganui for 13th, 18th and 20th July 2005! Demonstrating the change of accepted date over the years for the date of issue of the Chalons, now thought to be 20th July 1855 (unless it has changed again since 2005 😁). So, we have Chalon postage stamps on stamps plus the bonus of another Cinderella.
