I'm Jim Wentzell, a worldwide collector/accumulator located in Marietta, Georgia. Continuously collecting since I was ten years old (in 1969) I attend local shows, stamp clubs etc. and buy a few items--usually lower priced collections or odd lots--at auction houses. Was the Cobb County Stamp Club president for three years around 2002-5 and still often am the auctioneer at our twice-monthly local meetings held at the Atlanta Ballet on Powers Ferry Road (usually meeting on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month at 1:30pm...come on by!)
My interests are great----but I spend more time and money on postal history including post cards up to 1950's primarily Germany including inflation-era covers, WWI/II covers, Feldpost, POW mail, the like. Also Europa and better Commonwealth & worldwide up to 1950. I like mourning covers, early airmails/Zeppelin covers/cards, older advertising covers/cards, encased postage, and the odd or interesting Cinderella/back of the book item. Swiss Army envelopes and stamps too.
I'm fluent in German, still visit family there every year, and like to browse flea markets/antique venues with my wife. I am a past member of the German Philatelic Society , and am a current APS member 177-671 since 2002.
Glad to BE ON BOARD! ---Jim in Georgia (USA)

Welcome, Jim. I look forward to your posts. Yesterday, on impulse, I bought a German postcard with an infant child holding golden four leaf clovers to cover himself. The caption reads "Ich bringe Gluck.' I assume it's a new year's card and is in support of a children's charity. The postage, semi-postal, is printed on the card, and is of a design similar to Germany B12-18. I don't know what city or state is represented in the shield. I can't scan it right now, but will tomorrow, if you would like to see it.

ok I've been away for two years but thanks for the welcome :-)
And Stolzpup, the card you have I think is fairly common, being used often to wish someone a happy holiday or just good luck (like sending a greeting card was used until computers and emails greatly diminished the art of putting pen to paper!) I see them often online for sale, but there are many types that are scarcer. I always prefer potcards that are USED, preferably not philatelically inspired such as FDC or obviously meant for collectors. Interesting rates/markings/destinations and of course CONTENT are what excite me.
I used to go to a few deltiology shows (picture postcards) here in Atlanta, does anyone know if they still meet in Norcross off Jurgens Court, if I recall correctly?
The dealers there couldn't understand why I'd look at their stock "backwards" meaning I was more interested in the POSTED side of the card!
FWIW the initials AK (ansichts Karten) used in google-type searches for German-language material always yields interesting results, especially if you google.de "Bilder" (pictures) I couldn't locate the aforementioned Clover postcard I believe Stolzpup refers to above, but there were a LOT of "Kleeblatt" (clover) postcards to check out!
