This document has been issued for the 25th Anniversary of the German formal signing of their unconditional surrender, World War II, on 8th May 1945. It is also a First Day Document for the stamp honouring General Jean de Lattre de Tassigny (posthumously raised to the rank of Marshal in 1952), 8th May 1970. He was also the French representative at the signing of the surrender.

Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot No actual stamps on this document. It appears to be an explanatory Facsimile but still has some nice engraving. Issued for Le Pont de Mantes stamp 12.2.1977.

Ladislas Ignace de Bercheny was a Hungarian-born soldier who became Marshal of France. He emigrated to France in1711 and the following year became lieutenant-colonel in the Rattky Hussards Regiment. He would later form the Bercheny-Houzards becoming its Brigadier during the War of the Polish Succession (1733-1735). He was promoted to Marshal on the day he retired during the Seven Year' War.
