Northern Ireland Queen Elizabeth II First & Second Issues, 1958-1969During my recent trip to Ireland, which included 2-3 days in Northern Ireland, I was disappointed to find that currently there are no regional issues of stamps available there, only just the regular UK issues that can be had at any post office in England, Scotland, or Wales. So, I decided to acquire a few of the older issues and post here to encourage others to do the same. Row 1: Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Sc1-Sc6, including Sc1p and Sc2p with phosphorescent bands, First QEII Issue 1958-1967 Row 2: Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Sc7-Sc11, Second QEII Issue 1968-1969

Not strictly a Northern Ireland regional, but about Northern Ireland, this issue from a set of landscapes issued in 1966 with one stamp from each of the four UK countries:

a few more of the Regional/Machin Northern Ireland issues - unsorted at the moment. I've picked up what seems to be most of the Wilding's for Wales, Scotland, N.I., Guernsey, I.O.M. and Jersey and what seems to be a few of the Machins - the Wildings are more attractive and regret to say I'm one of the "I can't get excited about Machin brigade" - so they'll probably never get sorted. I'm a big fan of Wales, Scotland and Ireland - as places of beauty and interest - and I've been to all three and loved them. think I also have these used too.

I gather the regional stamps were withdrawn with the advent of decimalisation, although I don't know why they couldn't have continued to print regional stamps. I read an interesting article about the Northern Ireland regional stamps - well, looked through as opposed to read. Apparently the stamps weren't very popular in Northern Ireland because people preferred to get their stamps from booklets and the regionals didn't come in books. I have to say, I liked them, especially the purple 'thruppeny' one
