I've been collecting stamps for over 60 years: World, British Commomweath, New Zealand and now only one stamp, the 1970-73 Magpie Moth and its overprints. I have over 300 pages of the single stamp often exhibiting one, five or eight frames. I am keen to know the rarity of its EFOs that being an inverted surcharge overprint on reverse due to on a single stamp dur to the parting of its perforations on two sides. Such is in my collection.

Hi jeff - sounds an amazing turnabout in your collecting habits - regret I don't do decimals, but assume you're speaking about a GB pictorial label. I once dabbled in the lepidoptera and it's hard to forget some of the Latin names - for the Magpie Moth it's Abraxas grossulariata, a very variable and usually striking looking moth - it feeds on gooseberry from memory, and possibly other plants too. Regret I'm unable to help with your request re the rarity of EFOs, whatever they are, but am sure someone here will have the answer. Welcome to TSF by the way:-)

Here is a picture of the said NZ 1971-73 Magpie Moth 'Provisional' - SG 957 - 957c Taken from the ACS Simplified Catalogue - which is online here : ACS Stamp Catalogue
As I only buy and study the 'Classic' Issues of NZ, I have not a lot of knowledge regarding this stamp from 1971-73. I am looking forward very much to seeing some of your work. Dave PS Lots of pictures please - as this is a visual hobby after all Perhaps start a new thread under New Zealand: 1971-73 2½d Magpie Moth Study

ah, my mistake then - nothing to do with grossulariata, though I think the U.K. one more attractive;-) thanks to Dave for the enlightenment.

Perhaps start a new thread under New Zealand: 1971-73 2½d Magpie Moth Study Hi Jeff A very impressive piece above. There will not be many like that around ! A suggestion before you post further on this thread (which is for introductions only) - Perhaps start a new thread under New Zealand (under Australia & Oceania) and call it New Zealand: 1971-73 2½d Magpie Moth StudyThen, once you have that going, you can post as many pictures as you like and tell us about them too of course :-)Dave
