Registered articles were enumerated on this card, the receiving PO checked registered articles against the card, if OK, strike the card with the cnaceller, and return it to the originating office. Sender Postmaster : S Johnson? Long Reach, Tyler County Receiver : WS Harlan, Postmaster Zanesville 1884 (struck 10th July 1884) 1 registered article to a Mr. George B Monteith. I can get garbled info on WS Harlan, in 1880 he was so overun with work, he was granted a third letter carrier, at $800 per annum but a request to hire two horses for same, at $200 was revoked.
