I cannot be sure of my identification of this KING GEORGE head. it has wmk type 7 ie. Multi crown/A and as die II should be SG 100b………deep ultramarine. now if that is ultramarine, I am Queen Marie of Roumania. COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS PLEASE ? i.ibb.co/XXZ2Tvk/9328424-C-9-D83-4275-A5-B9-74930404-D299.jpg

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I have a Type 1 and Type 2 in my collection and there are obvious shade differences. My Type 2 is on the right and much darker for sure Alex. For your example to fade to that shade seems unusual. Hopefully someone that specializes more than I do will have an answer. The photo of mine is for comparison purposes.

Thanks for reply hdm1950…….I cannot describe either of your two as “ultramarine”. Which suggests the deep blue sea.

Thanks for reply hdm1950 …….I cannot describe either of your two as “ultramarine”. Which suggests the deep blue sea. The 2 I have are at least consistent with others listed on eBay. The colour names used in catalogues often have me scratching my head as well. Scott numbers for these are 72 and 72a. They also list a perf variety 72b.

Well, I'm certainly not an expert, but would blue tones not fade to grey? It seems your KGV has more red in it.
