I've had few issues with my inkjet. I was going to give it away when I bought a cheap laser, but it is still my main printer. The laser? I dunno...

I have been convinced for at least 40 years that all printers have a "mood-chip" that recognises your stresslevels and changes how the printer works accordingly...

Aha, that's why my printers seem to work without any issues. I haven't been stressed in years. Or rather, if I ever was stressed, I'd be distracted by something and the stressful event forgotten!

Al ( angore ), thanks for the post. I think that the subject is fun. Sorry, but I don't understand what is meant by "demand feeding when container is full". Would you please explain for those of us not savvy in the lingo?

At a guess - cats complain they want food when they still have some in their bowl, and printers can be finicky about needing paper in the tray even when they have some...

I'm not a fan of either inkjet printers or cats. I prefer the laser jet and dogs.

Thanks for that explanation, Chris ( cjoprey). That makes sense to me, at least.... but thinking about it, nothing was occurring to me.

Inkjets and also lasers report have been known report via messages to needing ink or toner when in fact they still have enough to continue to print. I do not use or like inkjets but my HP colo(u)r laser keeps telling me my toner (has black plus 3 colors) is low based upon estimated page counts. Let me decide when to change.
