Hello,
I'm Rob from England. I collected all-world from around the age of 10, encouraged by my philatelist father, and bought my first classic Mauritius stamp aged around 13 (a blue Dardenne, which I still own) from Vessey's auction in the early 1970s. Later went to Uni and took about 35 years off from the hobby to jump out of planes. I'm still doing that now aged 60+ , but returned to the collecting hobby a few years ago. Now actively collecting Mauritius primitives and Cape triangles, plus a few other classic Commonwealth and occasionally filling in the Victoria surface-printed gaps in my GB album which I set up in the 70s. Having an income and pension rather than pocket-money does help with this ...

Welcome, Nemo, to TSF! I would love to see pics of the early Mauritius! What a stamp history of such a small island!

Welcome from Suffolk Rob Nemo! You'll find some great threads on the Cape triangles here - our own Beryllium Guy is somewhat of an expert now in that field!

Welcome to TSF, Rob ( Nemo)! Many thanks for your nice intro. Your collecting interests sound particularly relevant to my recent bent, as I am actively collecting Cape Triangles, and I am also interested in early Mauritius, although I don't have any of the primitive issues (yet). As Chris ( cjoprey) said, we have a nice Cape of Good Hope thread here on TSF. Perhaps you have already seen it? thestampforum.boards.net/thread/1542/cape-good-hope-stampsI have had the privilege to contribute more and more over the past couple of years, and I would be delighted to see some new additions there, so please don't be shy! By the way, if you don't mind saying, where in England are you located? Welcome again and enjoy your time with us! -Chris ( Beryllium Guy) US expatriate living in Oxford, England

Welcome to the forum Nemo! Great to have a seasoned collector of the Primitives with us! That's not the most common subject for specialization, at least for most of us 'commoners'. I did work with Muaritius myself last year, but must say the few Primitives I do have are not worthy of showing... so I hope you will share images of your beauties - we love pictures This is a good place - hope you will enjoy it

Welcome to the Forum!
Looking forward to seeing your stamps.
I do not recall the term “ primitive” in relation to stamps. My chance to learn something new.
