Here is a side by side picture showing examples of the two types of the second Vatican postage dues series, Scott #’s J7-J12.
The stamps on the LEFT are type I - the right type II. When you see them side by side the differences in the thickness of the colored background lines really jumps out at you. The type IIs are less common.
