Hi All I would like to improve my plate identification of early GB QV 1d & 2d Penny stamps can anyone suggest what they have found useful - easily available in the past ?
best regards

Thanks for your post, tony. We have a few members who are knowledgeable in the plating of GB QV stamps: Vince ( stanley64) and Stan ( stainlessb) are two who come to mind. Vince has been working on Penny Blacks, and Stan on Penny Reds. Alex ( vikingeck) is also quite knowledgeable in general about GB QV issues. There are probably others who have also worked in this area, but these are the members I could think of.

tony HERE is a good starting point. The Roland Brown books are also helpful as a 'hands on' reference, but the 5 volume set is a bit of adventure to track down (as well as being a bit pricey) The "E-Gauge" tool works well, once you get your scanner set (pay close attention to the instruction page !) and.... Have fun!! Stan

Thanks for the link stainlessb , most useful to anyone interested in plating these issues and I have bookmarked the site. Hopefully, tony and others will find it useful as well... Have fun and happy collecting!
