JeffS ........Quite a distance from Texas, this little gem appears to be from the early 20's-30's as a fund-raiser for the Brownsville (now Brookdale) and East New York Hospital in Brooklyn. I haven't checked but it was most likely, at that time, a Jewish run organization given the caption 'Because I am your Doctor' in Hebrew (Yiddish?). Nice label. Let me know if you put it up for sale !! Londonbus1

Are there other hospital Cinderellas? If so, post them here. If not, these posts will eventually get merged into the General U.S. Cinderellas thread.

I am sure we can find some. It's late now but the search will begin tomorrow. Nothing like a challenge to get the (Cinderella) juices flowing !!

Just to be precise, in hebrew there, is a part of verse 26, chapter 15, from the Exodus book of the old testamen saying [...for I am the Lord that healeth thee].

Shown elsewhere. Though not for a specific hospital, these Irish Sweepstakes labels promoted the Hospitals' Trust in Dublin Ireland, so they kinda count. Shown front and back First stamp in the third row shows the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin.

jamesw It is curious to see that users of the Irish seals or poster stamps are cautioned not to use them on the outside of an envelope.

Not sure if Grace Lutheran Sanatorium counts as a "hospital", feel free to move to a different/new thread (later on, they did change their name to Grace Lutheran Hospital). Founded in 1913 on San Antonio’s west side, the facility was established for the treatment of TB patients. They began issuing annual Christmas seals in 1922.

guyana1230 showed a pic of a 1940 strip of 5 and the booklet (which normally contains 5 strips of 5). The example explains why many of Grace Lutheran Sanatorium Christmas seals appear to be coil stamps. My OCD required me to pilfer his pic (hope he doesn't mind ):

The thread is open to all to contribute, and all contributions are both welcome and interesting!
(Edit: The 1945 design is actually a repeat of the 1942 design. See next post...)

khj Thank you for posting these San Antonio Grace Lutheran seals. I was wondering how seriously I should pursue these for my Texas cinderellas. I did some eBay searching and found a lot of 30 years, 1923 to 1955. What is the period of use for these?

Grace Lutheran Sanatorium began issuing annual Christmas seals in 1922. They changed their name in 1965 and again in 1967. So technically, Grace Lutheran Sanatorium issued seals from 1922-1964 (I believe there was no seal issued in 1943, but will leave that for someone else to confirm/correct). I will discuss the name changes and the seals in future posts. Disregarding name change, the last seal I've seen is 1977, but that doesn't mean seals don't exist after that -- I just haven't seen them. The hospital shut down in 1991, so definitely none after that. (CORRECTION: there was a 1943 seal, see JeffS post/pic below)

I did some eBay searching and found a lot of 30 years, 1923 to 1955. I am curious, did it include an issue for 1943? Also, note that some years had color/perf/format varieties.

I'll go ahead and post to include 1955 so you will have something to compare:

I should have added that I bought the lot

In 1965, Grace Lutheran Sanatorium became Grace Lutheran Hospital. This is reflected in the 1965 seal.

In 1967, Grace Lutheran Hospital became Lutheran General Hospital.
