Hi, I am new and found your group recently. I come from a family that started working for the Post Office in early 1930's. Grandpa drove an old model T over rutted dirt roads in rural NM to pick up and deliver mail to small villages and Pueblos in Northern New Mexico and later Trucks between Albuquerque and Gallup. After the War, my dad started working at the Post Office and an Uncle hired on after serving in Korea. Other Cousins and extended family have also worked for the Post Offices in NM, CO, and TX. With that background, I have been around stamps since I was born and started collecting as a kid, but did NOT stay with it. Wish I had, but have still found that I have some commemorative, 1st day, and sheets that caught my eye for subject or color. Maybe I can still learn something from this group. Here is a photo of my Grandpa on mail route delivery and pick up in rural NM town of Ramah circa early 1930's notice the US MAIL sign in passenger side window.

The opening comment reminded of the saying "Do you put life in your work or work in your life" in a discussion of work-life balance.

Thank you ALL for the Welcomes... One member asked why I didn't follow up and work in Post Office.. Seem I had more of a Science bent and worked for almost 40 years at a local Research Laboratory, two brothers had careers as Dept. of Interior Geologist and other is/was a Hydrology Engineer.
Dad was the Service Tech for the Self Serve Postal Units that came to town in the mid-1960's and retired in late 1970's. In clearing his estate years later I found some stamps he ended up with. I recently came across them again and in trying to find out some information about some specific stamps found this forum.
