Hello once again. I am trying to clean up these officials and although I find many stamps with partial overprints, I never seen one quite like this. Is this extremely common? or just a partial print?

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

sudbury12000 I guess you are referring to the inverted 'n'. I agree it appears to be an O30. Scott makes no comment of such a variety so I guess it would require a specialty catalogue. I only have the O31 that is the red overprint. I quickly looked at all the other Officials I have for this state and see no others with the inverted 'n'.

What appears to be an inverted "n", might actually be a poorly inked (or worn) "n" at top combined with the residual postmark arc make the bottom of the "n" appear closed? Or just my imagination? Need better eyes than mine...

Well, I can't vouch for how good my eyesight is or isn't, but the "n" doesn't appear inverted me. I will need to dig into my Travancore material to see what I can find.

I may have to step back from my inverted 'n' stance. When I look at the stamp on my iPad where I can do a finger expansion of the image I do think now that it is just a weak 'n' imprint.

If sudbury12000 could clarify which part of the overprint he is referring to...

I was referring to the "n". Depends how I look at it as well. The Postmark could have clouded it.

Thanks for explaining, Roy ( sudbury12000 ). I think the uncertainty on your part may be due to the lack of detailed info in the Scott Catalogue, so I am providing an excerpt from the latest SG Catalogue below. It looks to me that your overprint is SG Type "O2" that appears to have a short leg on the right side of the "n" as the normal case. Looking down at the listing, there are some listed overprint errors for your stamp, which appears to be SG#O8, if I have got it right. Look closely at the right "S" in yours to see if you think it may be inverted or not. It is only a minor error, but still a listed variety. Hope this helps a little.
