What I collect: Postboxes, French & UK Stamps

Hi I have been collecting French stamps for a few years. I have a house in Burgundy and spend maybe 3-4 months a year here. I am also a bit of a fan of postboxes and as Paris isn't that far away I try to spend a day there a few times a year. Stamp shopping but mainly taking photos of postboxes. I don't know Paris that well so if anyone knows of stamp shops that are worth a visit then please let me know. If I was asked where someone interested in La Poste or stamps should visit in Paris I would suggest... Musée de La Poste. I think Paris has had a postal museum for quite a few years, however the current version was renovated three or four years ago. It's not a massive museum but it does try and tell the story of the development of the postal service in France. It has exhibits dealing with how mail was transported, there is a little bit about the TGV La Poste train. There are also an exhibit detailing airmail. Exhibits on the development and design of stamps, and a few postboxes. Most of the descriptions are in French but its still worth a visit if you don't speak French. Le Carre d'Encre If you collect modern French stamps le Carre d'Encre, 13 bis, rue des Mathurins 75009 Paris is worth a visit however they are not open on Mondays. Yvert & Tellier 23, rue Drouot Very small shop and the last time I was there fairly busy. I mean they had people waiting to be served. The first time I went there I kind of it expected it to be like Stanley Gibbons in London and it's not. Its much smaller didn't seem to have the full range of Yvert & Tellier catalogues on display. They had some packs to stamps to buy but not much. Anyone got suggestions of stamp related shops to visit in Paris? Thanks Alex

Hi, Alex ( alexcandy ), and thanks for your post! I lived in southern France for a couple of years in 2018-2019, and I visited Paris on multiple occasions. Sorry to say that I have never visited the Postal Museum, as it looks quite nice from your photos. I would like to suggest two stamp-related places that I have visited with good success: The Paris Stamp Market (Le Marché aux Timbres)I wrote an article in the TSF Newsletter about a visit to this market a couple of years ago, but I don't know how active it still is. It suffered quite a lot during COVID times and because of the unrest of the Gilets Jaunes. For some reason, I could not access their website today, so here is another link for info that worked for me: URL: en.parisinfo.com/shopping-paris/73776/Marche-aux-timbresPassage des PanoramasThis is a beautiful, indoor shopping arcade (possibly the oldest one in Paris) that had 2-3 stamp dealers in it when I was there a few years ago. The shop that I can recall was named "PHILA 2000", and I got some very nice material there. URL: www.parisinfo.com/musee-monument-paris/100264/Passage-des-PanoramasHope this helps.
