So, the newest Ukrainian issue to come out is "History of National Communications." The image on the stamp is just some people on a horse. Could they have issued a more vague stamp? How am I supposed to write a description for this one? Attachments:

How am I supposed to write a description for this one? Your scan is not large enough to interpret and comment on. Basically, in the modern era, the posthorn does represent man's ideal of communication, (I am assuming that is a mounted postboy), both audibly and in the transference of printed news. The era prior to that, esp in Great Britain was the ringing of Church Bells, esp as a timepiece. I think the Postboy is a fine allegory of communications as a whole.

The stamp has not been released yet, so the only image I have is the one sent to me by ukrposhta. I subscribed to some Ukrainian new release mailing list. But the images on that list (and the ones on ukrposhta) are always very low quality. The only way I ever get half decent images is to wait for release date and go download images from eBay.
Thanks for the info on the posthorn. That helps!

I see, an ideal opportunity to reflect on personal impatience it's a curious emotion. Look forward to your page on the following joint issue with Romania. Here is a postboy woodcut from 1647, blowing the posthorn, very early communication.

Rodney's image reminds me of this joint issue released by Belgium (shown here), West Germany, West Germany / Berlin and East Germany. Images of post riders are actually quite common on stamps, lots of examples to be found. Ryan

In Great Britain, many were just young lads, easy pickings for the varlets and ne'er do wells, lots of young lads were murdered and or held up. Culprits were hanged at the gibbet, I am fond of 18th century justice.
