That's my favorite United States definitive series. Some unusual antique vehicles landed on those stamps, and they always cheered me up. Interesting bunch of...I was going to say "precancels", but if there's a specific term for those ZIP+4 or Presorted First Class identifiers, I can't think of it.

Welcome to TSF paulc and thanks for the showing; what a great way to start the ball rolling ;-) As I too collect the series (PNC5s), your collection of the USA Transportation Coil series is a delight to view. Is that a "Bronx Blue" I see in the mix ;-) Again, thanks for sharing... Have fun and happy collecting!

Whilst we are in "show and tell" mode, here is a page from my own collection of the USA Transportation coils,
Other issues in the collection with similar errors include the 1¢ Omnibus, the 2¢ Locomotive and the 17¢ Electric Auto; no doubt there are others as I believe there was a list at one time being compiled by the membership of the Plate Number Coil Collectors Club (PNC3). On a related note, finding the same errors on commercially-used covers has proven to be quite the challenge… Have fun and happy collecting!

Yup, makes sense angore given the club or society's name, i.e. PNC3. Alas though, my last record for the Plate n.º 100% on Top census is from 2010 and I am not aware of any new additions or if Mr. Schultz published his results. In the meantime, I do not know if it is a "philatelic rule" or just my own predilection, but I prefer not to mix mint and used stamps on the same page. Hence, given my earlier posting, I thought to re-do the pages as a result,
Have fun and happy collecting!
P.S. I see where the PNC3 group offers an elecronic membership and need to investigate further...

Coming back to your collection paulc , I am curious, as without any notations, how will you or another viewer recognise the different variants of a particular issue? For example, either the 1$ Seaplane or the 10¢ Canal Boat issues with their different taggings or gum types? On the other hand, the 'Bronx Blue' of the 32¢ Ferry Boat shines and may not need any additional wording... Have fun and happy collecting!

Great question stanley64 The individual info is under all of the stamps. As my collecting style has changed over the years though, I've started making visible handwritten notes. And I've even thought that when making custom pages I might include it in the design and printing. How did you design your beautiful pages above? And how did you scan and display them so flawlessly?

Ah, olde school, got it paulc . :-)
I appreciate you sharing, but do see the disadvantage of text 'hidden' beneath the stamp as it will need to be removed to jog the memory and remind one's self of what is being looked at. As for my own pages, thanks for the kind words and the compliment, they are appreciated. As a Linux (Ubuntu) user, I design my pages using OpenSource software, i.e. LibreOffice and often refer to this text as a starting point - How to Arrange and Write-up a Stamp Collection as shared in the thread here. At the same time, I do look at my share of other's work either exhibit or personal pages such as here on The Stamp Forum in the Show your DIY album pages for both inspiration and feedback. Having good material helps and there is no shortage of that with the USA Transportation coil series... Have fun and happy collecting!

Rows 1-3 : 20¢ Cable Car - Plate n.º 1 20¢ Cable Car - Plate n.º 2 20¢ Cable Car - Plate n.º 2 (overall tagging)
With the addition of the overall tagging strip the series is complete, but with only 1 cover, the creation of the album pages will have to wait...
Have fun and happy collecting!
