I just noticed that we never had a thread dedicated to the important topic of peace on TSF, even though it's been brought up multiple times elsewhere, especially for my Ukraine project and World Peace Day project. This is a rather big topic -- a quick research shows that there are over 500 peace-themed stamps worldwide, in particularly, 1986 which was the International Year of Peace, and this year when the Europa theme is peace have a lot of peace-related themed stamps being issued. I should like to invite people to share your collection celebrating peace, armistice, end of war or similar concept. Note that I don't include Christmas stamps that are meant to 'send peace', but we can debate about its inclusion / exclusion.

Beautiful!

LindaThanks for starting this thread. I think you are right that the topic of peace deserves more attention here on TSF, and I apologize for being so slow to make any posts in this thread. As it happens, my all-time favorite peace stamps are the Japan issue from 1919 (I absolutely love the rendering of the dove and olive branch on the 3 and 10-Sn stamps), but you have already posted that set, so I will need to look for another one. As it happens, today is a particularly noteworthy day for members to post in this thread. Today is 11th November, which marks the 105th anniversary of the end of World War I, called by people in that era "The War to End All Wars." My only comment to that is: "If only it had been." Sadly for our world, wars are continuing to this day. But of course, that gives us all the more reason to promote peace, in every way we can.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Seeing as it is Remembrance Day in Canada it seems appropriate to share the 1946-47 Peace Issue. As always the National service from Ottawa was somber and moving. Nice to see it is well attended.

"Search for Peace" / Lions Issue United States, Sc1326 issued 5th July 1967According to the Scott Catalogue: US, Sc1326, 5-cent: Blue, Red & Black, Perf. 11 This is my personal favorite of US stamps issued to commemorate peace, probably because it was issued around the time that I started collecting stamps. It is highly likely that I got my first copy of this one by soaking it off an envelope of correspondence received at our home when I was a kid. I have always really liked the design of this one, and now we have the perfect thread in which to show it.
