The liner SS Mariposa of the US Matson Line ran regular mail shipping between Sydney and SanFrancisco, linking the islands of Fiji Samoa and Hawaii from the early 1930s until the War when she became a troopship.
Incidentally the name “Mariposa” was familiar to me from 19th century Samoa mails as New Zealand operated a shipboard post office with a handstamp on an earlier vessel of the same name The RMS Mariposa
