Let's see you examples of these relics of the retail world ( I guess there may still be some traded somewhere). Saved and traded for good or services, much like todays Air Miles or other premium programs. What you got?

Sterling is the broad name for United Kingdom Currency, hence pound sterling, is 1 GBP (as distinct from Lebanese pound, Syrian pound, Egyptian pound etc etc) The "D" or "d" refers to "denarius" an old Roman silver coin The stamp actually needs a small "d" 6d = sixpence (In my language a "Tanner") I could buy my mum, 4 woodbines (cigarettes) for a tanner, and get tuppence change. I have the history on my main computer which is in for an oil change, I am using a piddly $40 laptop with nothing on it at the moment. and a different keyboard layout Ugh! good info here resources.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/customs/questions/moneyold.htm

These might be better listed under revenues or tax stamps as well as postage due and Confederate States of America or generally put Back of book but this will do for now.

James posted a pair of these stamps in the thread's first post. Golden Rexall Drugs operated four locations in Chicago's western suburbs. As memory serves me, these stamps were issued in the late-1950s through the 1960s. A stamp was given for every 10c spent and once a book was filled ($144 in purchases), it could be redeemed for $2.00 in merchandise. The inside front cover of the book reads: "BANKS pay you interest on money you save-- WE pay you interest on money you spend!"

A friend of mine here in the US, Arthur Mongan, wrote and published a catalog of savings and trading stamps some years ago. It is a huge book, listing many thousand of stamps. Just thinking about this one, highly specialized catalog of some 800 pages, makes you understand why nobody has attempted a comprehensive catalog of worldwide cinderellas.

I recall Arthur and his posts when we were on Newsgroup correspondence years ago, a super fellow, the only guy I have met, who collects "selection stamps" as I do. That made him hard core, in my view In fact, I think it was him who coined the phrase. I'd love to get my hands on his catalogue.

Interesting to come back to this one and see where it's gone. Lots of entries I didn't expect - war savings, ration stamps, national savings. And I love the Bus' Swedish Scout stamps. Admittedly I was thinking more commercial, but you folks have taken it to another level. Awesome! Here's a couple more commercial trading stamps, I think sent to me by one or more members here, but sorry, I can't remember who.

I showed some Swedish Scout Savings Stamps in an earlier post. Now I can show the full sheet from 1934, which recently came into my collection ! Can anyone spot what looks like (at least) a couple of constant flaws ?

I don't know about flaws, but at least the toilet paper is coming of the roll in the right direction! How many books of these do you have to collect before you can get a free scout?

I saw these 1950's-era Princess Anne (?) UK labels, a nice corner imprint block of the 6d value. At $12.00 postpaid for the block I thought it was just a bit pricey. Maybe I will regret it.........

These were stated to be Ration Stamps, possibly Rice tokens. If anyone has an idea or can translate (possibly khj) I would be grateful. I got these when I was with anglobob at the Charing Cross Collectors Market October in London. For whatever reason the seller/dealer would not come down on the already hefty price. He would not budge. I have never seen them before and still don't know why I splashed out on them. It was a crazy moment. Anyway, for better or worse, here they are....well not all of them, just a selection.

Just took a very very quick glance, but they all appear to be ration coupons.
They are labeled for issuing province (Sichuan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Xinjiang), value (in portions, weight, quantity...), and year. You have a few Cultural Revolution and pre-CR stamps, which I would think are worth more than the post-CR stamps (but that's just my guess). The food stamp system was abolished in the early 1990s.
The item for which the stamp can be redeemed is usually either written or symbolized on the stamps. For example, if you look at the very last large intact pane in your pic is a 1980 ticket for Xinjiang Province; the left half of the bottom pair is for grain (in this case, I think flour or grain for making flour) and the right half is for (cooking) oil.
The coupons were issued not only for grain and oil, but also exist for rice, cloth, bicycles... -- off the top of my head, so there are very likely other items as well.
There are also national coupons distributed primarily to military, but I didn't see any after a quick glance.
Nice batch. The 1959 and 1961 stamps are interesting, as they survived the Cultural Revolution Period.
